I think Yabusele has the chance to be a very special player, especially in the modern NBA.
According to a study I read, the physical attribute that correlates to rebounding most is strength. I think he helps us in that area right away next year.
But I think he could be a very special scorer if he had to be. In our team-oriented gameplay, he won't get enough shots, but he could easily be a 15 and 7 guy in our system.
The thing that makes him so special is his ability to shoot and drive as a big guy, but also to post and draw fouls. I think his strength also allows him to be good on defense in the post and on the boards.
Has there been a player in the last 20 years who is more like Larry Johnson than Yabusele?
I'm more excited about him than Zizic.
I can believe he might be a solid rebounder, and an OK post defender against smaller PFs (who mostly don't post-up, these days).
Biggest question is how he will fare when tasked with defending stretch bigs on the perimeter, switching onto smaller wing players, and moving his feet to defend in the pick and roll. From what I've seen of him, he looks like he will be a major defensive liability in those situations. But we'll see.
Offensively, he looks like he has a legit jumper. I'm not sure he'll be able to dribble-drive or finish inside against NBA defenders. I suspect he'll get his shot blocked pretty often.
