Now hear me out, not an overreaction, just something I was thinking over after we had recently signed Gerald Green in FA.

With the Phoenix Suns, he averaged 28.4 MPG, which also led to his career highs in points, and generally increased stats in most categories.

We all remember the Phoenix Suns that season, and how underrated and how well they responded to adversity. Its a testament to reconcile the Suns weren't really that great, but they played great uptempo offense, and Green was one of the leaders in that offense spiking crusade. He also shot the 3PA at 6.2 a lot for 28 MPG, but hit on 40% of them.

My prediction. He'll average around 12-14 PPG in 20-22 MPG, but he'll also average career highs in efficiency, hit close to at least 38% in 3P, and become a better passer/defender. Just like Evan Turner, he'll remain in the conversation for sixth man of the year. And I think, Marcus Smart will also be in the same conversation too, but I think eventually someone else will win it like Jamal Crawford. (Yuck!)

Stevens has a penchant for luring out the best in players. Gerald Green has matured. Years ago, if he was sitting prematurely on the bench, you can bet he would've been gripping and complaining about how he wasn't seeing minutes. He was a rookie, and he was young. Now that he's come back, its like a homecoming reunion, and Celtic fans want nothing but the best for him, and so does he for accepting such a low contract to prove his worth.

I was very pessimistic of Gerald Green, but I still think he needs more time to find himself, and his rhythm. I'm a huge fan of him, and hope for his productivity.

I think he could easily be our second leading scorer per 36 (currently 3rd, 1 point behind AB).

Doesn't bring much else, but scoring is our biggest issue with the 2nd unit.  Those ~5 minute scoring droughts are dreadful to watch.  He does bring solid defense and great length though, no reason Rozier should get a single minute over him.  And he knows when to pass, which is rare for a pure scorer.

Other thing I've liked from him is offensive rebounding.  2nd on the team per 36 behind Amir.

No shock here though, I make it known Green is my 2nd favorite Celtic behind Smart (followed closely by KO, IT, and Crowder).  Dude can ball, and I especially love how much energy his dunks bring to the rest of the team (loved him since his first time here, before he even had a clue how to play basketball).

I've been calling for him over Rozier and Brown alllll year.  Give him Jerebko's minutes and play Crowder/KO more time at the 4, ANYTHING!!!

Feel the same way.

Call it fanboyism, but I love Smart and I'm so glad Gerald Green is back.

2007 was a strange year. Gerald Green won the Slam Dunk champion over Nate Robinson, Tyus Jones, and Dwight Howard.

We forget that Gerald missed most of training camp this season. He may just have been behind on picking up defensive schemes and offensive sets compared to guys like Rozier and Brown who were there early on. Otherwise it never made much sense to play those two over Gerald.

The problem with Green is that he is either boom or bust with his shooting.
But I have been impressed with his hustle and defense.
Give him a chance to be our sixth man, and see how it goes.

I think best case scenario he shoots us to one or two playoff wins. Not sure expecting regular contributions is realistic.

That would be good value for the pickup, IMO. And he's provided competition for Jaylen Brown so the rook doesn't think NBA minutes are a given.

I'm actually pretty sure someone like Green can.

People really were being negative nancys about our bad start. Our entire team didn't have enough time to gel chemistry wise, or really get to know each other. Stevens in the beginning was just throwing darts at a board and seeing which sticks.

I definitely believe when we signed Green, that he could at least average 12 PPG, and provide offensive spark occasionally. Plus, he loves Boston. He misses it, and hes willing to do whatever sacrifices are required out of him to provide the necessary support we needed from our depleted bench.
