Something obvious yet surprising just occurred to me. If Boston stayed the course and won an NBA Championship using Danny's current methods and talent, Celtics would be the first team in history not to draft a player who is one of their top two/three talents.

Ainge really is battling history.

Does staying the course imply trading Brooklyn '17 and Brown not turning into a star.

When I say Ainge's current methods I assume he wants to trade it all for a superstar player, if the player is good enough he'll sent Brown & Brooklyn pick away.

***Correction though 2004 Pistons were the first and only team so far

I think Cleveland and GS beat us to the punch with Durant and Love.  Ainge tried to entice both these guys.  Cleveland drafted wiggins dealt him for Love.  GS jerry west had a selling point to Durant.

We are going to have to do something else because we are the team looking up right now.  I don't know if Cousins is the answer.  We may be better served going with a different kind of team.

I think it's important to have those guys.  The celtics in the 70's did a different way though.

Talent is important but the celtics have to find the right talent imo... If it takes patience so be it.

If it is top 2 talents on the team that is definitely not true.

Dr. J and Moses Malone weren't drafted by the Sixers either. Kobe is in that weird universe where he was drafted by a different team, but the selection was made by LAL.

Yes he was.  The Lakers and Hornets had agreed to a trade before the pick was made, and the Lakers told the Hornets to draft Kobe.  The NBA is dumb, and that's how all draft night trades work.  But Kobe was absolutely a Lakers pick, in the very same way that Ainge picked Rondo.

Its not likely that this team wins a title as they are built now. There isnt an impact free agent that I believe takes this team past Cleveland or the Warriors. I think they are better off using the 17 pick and then packaging the 18 for someone.

I think we just have to be patient.  As time goes by options will open up.  I think Ainge is right that you make absolutely no trade at this point that sacrifices long term potential. If Boogie was it he'd be it.  Same with Noel etc.  If we can get these guys without sacrificing that that's different.  There is no guy out there like Durant at this point. Players become free agents as well.

I assumed it implied this season.  I like Brown, but he's not a top 2, or even top 6, player on the team this year.  But maybe I assumed wrong.

The whole plan to trade for a star was setup by Darryl Morrey in 2012 when the Rockets acquired James Harden.  Although Harden wasn't the stat stuffing player is now (like cousins is now), they made a big move and have become the blueprint of success for the Celtics to acquire their own superstar.  These opportunities just don't come around often enough for the Celtics to hesitate on the trade for Cousins.  I agree that waiting out the high price demand is necessary to become a better team in the long run, but I completely agree with the video.  The guy is the most dominant center and would finally solidify us as a top 4 in the league (spurs, warriors, cavs).  Sure there are risks involved with getting a disruptive player as the rockets have dealt with issues from Harden, but those distractions never last and now they are playing some of the best ball in the league.  Also, it seems that the media has been out to get this guy from the beginning and that anything nowadays that posted is probably a just using the negative attention to his persona to capitalize on clicks and reads.  To me, it seems that his personality would fit perfectly with how this current team is built: a chip on the shoulder.  I don't think there is anybody with a bigger chip on his shoulder than Cousins.  For the last 7 years, this guy has dealt with the worst franchise that rivals even the clippers under sterling.  I am confident that the superior front office that the Celtics have can provide the stability for Cousins to keep his focus on the court, and I think he will grow to be loved by the fans as he might embody some of the same struggles people have across the city.
