Another slow August thread, but I personally love these kind of articles. Smart and Brown are both working out with each other and specifically defense. Here is the link to the article

http://www.masslive.com/celtics/index.ssf/2016/08/boston_celtics_jaylen_brown_ma.html

some takeaways from the article and quotes that I like

Quote
"Marcus has been great," Morrison added, "because he shares his knowledge with Jaylen and says, 'Hey, in the league this isn't going to work,' or, 'Guys are going to do this when you do this.' Like I said, (Brown has) been real good to just listen and pick it up but he doesn't back down either. He'll try to compete with Marcus and both guys are out there to win,

Love Smart is being a leader. Just in his 3rd year he has been very vocal and a key part of our success, in terms of defense. I am optimistic that we will see a real leap this year for Marcus!

Quote
"I think he showed signs last season too at times. I'm not speaking for him but I think any time where you're struggling a bit with your outside shooting you try and maybe you force things around the rim a little bit. But when I watched Marcus, especially in the playoffs when he was playing pretty well, he'd get in the paint, help would come and he could make the open pass, open read. And that's one thing that we work on here too every day is just reads based on what the defense does. So I think you'll see him reach another level. I know he's putting in a lot of time on his shooting all offseason. He works out with us in the morning, he goes to another gym and shoots in the afternoon, and then when we can we go back at night and he joins us for extra shooting then too. So I know he's been serious and, like I said, a great example for a guy like Jaylen."

Will Smart improve as a shooter, I don't know but hey he is putting in the work. Can't hate on anyone who works on his weaknesses

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
One of my wishes is coming true.

Man, if Jaylen somehow inherits some of Mahcus' tenacity and mentality on the defensive end, together, they'll be a walking nightmare for opposing guards and wings.

Hope they defend each other on practices as well.

This is really great news.  Smart and Brown are the future of our franchise and it's awesome to hear them working out together to help each other improve.  Especially nice touch that Smart is taking Brown under his wing.  That's what a young veteran does.  Love this team, our future is looking bright!  Really hope, expect this extra work to pay off both for Smart and Brown!!

Work on defense together and offense separately.

LOL. This is so funny, yet so true.
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

Should work on offense, each of them should defend the other and get a bunch of shots up against that D. Their D on each other should help their offense more than less gifted trainers trying to D them up. If I were training for the season I would become friends with players who are some of the better defenders in the league and have training sessions in which they really try and stop me. I guess I'd have to watch for injuries more but I would take the risk to get better.
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)
