This rumor thing about a good trade brewing that everyone on Celticsblog will like is mildly entertaining. Kind of made me wonder who else is out there we might like and go after in a trade to complete our quest for a stronger center so Horford can play PF.

Two names jumped out at me.

DeAndre Jordan

Marc Gasol

Both of these guys could be quietly available. I have seen no one even consider them.

Who else is out there that most of us would like and give up a decent pile of assets to acquire?

If you disagree fine, tell me why?

Keep the Brooklyn picks.
Philly will cave in the end.

I don't like Jordan at his price. If we really want a Jordan type center we can get Noel, who would cost a lot less then 20 some million dollars a year. I feel Jordan is not the type of center for us.

I would be interested in Gasol, but I think he is not available. Memphis just spent a lot of money on COnley and Parsons. It seems they are trying to keep competing and wouldn't make sense to trade the best player on the team after spending that kind of money in FA.

Because Gasol and Jordan are not super-elite players that put us over the top.

agreed. the 2017 nets pick is more valuable than any player currently on philly. the only possible exception may be embiid IF he is healthy...if.

i can only think of a handful of players for whom i would trade the 2017. however, its final value wont happen until the lottery results next year. until then we are just guessing.

I understand your feelings about Jordan but I am sure he will command that much money. I think he is attractive for the 2 years he has left. He plays excellent defense, rebounds and doesn't need the ball. Maybe not a scorer lol, but certainly a top 7 center.

For Gasol, he is certainly a fit.  Memphis could be rebuilding and next year if he is gone with Randolph there will be plenty of money available for 2 max free agents.  We would be adding to their pile of young assets with a Smart or Bradley and picks. Plausible IMO.

Never said they were, Is Griffin?

Boogie might be, but hasn't yet. Still has P attached with excuses.

I think both are all star level talents still, as are Boogie and Blake.

Definitely within market value at current salary and productivity. Both would be huge upgrades.

I don't think Memphis just committed $245m to bring back Mike Conley and sign Chandler Parsons to deal Marc Gasol for picks.

I'd rather have an established player like Griffin, Cousins or even Westbrook than those Nets picks. Brown isn't going to be anything close to those levels. He isn't a great shooter.

Agreed, but I did mention Smart or Bradley and the implication was a trade  would include players.

The point was his possible availability and wether he would meet our needs as a stronger center.

Memphis just signed Chandler Parsons and gave Michael Conley a max. The are not looking to move Gasol. Thus the price will be really high and he doesnt vault us to contention. Thus, I will pass on him.

I dont like Deandre Jordan. Feel like these are moves to vault us onto the treadmill. I certainly wouldnt give up Brooklyn '17 for either.

Don't think he's available at all. It's pretty clear from their offseason so far that Memphis wants to contend. Swapping an all-NBA center for role players and picks would be counterproductive to that goal.

I also don't see Deandre being available. Aside from how it would look to deal him one year after they begged him to renege on Dallas, he's locked into his deal. A 7foot, all-defensive center who's cost controlled for the next few years with the rising cap is valuable. Doc isn't the best GM, but he's not a complete moron. I think Blake's possible because he's going to be a free agent next offseason and he's going to be expensive to resign - especially with CP3 being able to opt out as well.
