After watching the game last night against Phoenix has anyone changed their opinion on whether the Celtics should have drafted Tyler? I was disappointed they didn't pick him with the 23rd pick or 1st pick in the second round.
Yeah, I know we have Isaiah and that Tyler is undersized. But, as a back up or situational guard he would have been a terrific pick up. Surprisingly, his defense was a lot better than I had anticipated. Offensively, he was as good or better than I thought he would be.
On a side note, he does something unusual on defense and wouldn't be surprised if other guards pick up on it this year. And that is, when he's beaten by his man (via a pick or other reason) on his front side he turns his back on the player and keeps his rear end in contact with the offensive player and slides with him, never losing contact. I thought it was ingenious.
Kudos to those who clamored for Danny to select Chriss and/or Maker. I hadn't watched videos on Chriss until after the draft. And, I haven't watched Summer League video on Maker...his stats do look impressive.
