Hopefully Durant decides to play for the greatest organization and best fans in the world.  Even if KD decides to play elsewhere, don't stess it. Our future is super bright.  We wouldn't be one of the handful of teams Durant is listening to if that wasn't the case.  TP's to everyone.

This isn't necessarily about signing him this year. It's about building bridges so we get a second look if he comes off a 1+1 with OKC next year. It's not necessarily a loss if he doesn't come.

TP.  The fact we are getting a meeting means players are looking at us as a legit destination.   Eventually we are gonna get someone significant.

I agree, it wouldn't be the end, but it would be so COOL if he did sign with us now. Would save us a lot of time ;D

I don't think he will sign with us this year. I am okay with that. But we DO need to sign someone of value. I am very afraid that if Horford bales then we are left with nothing while at least 4 other teams have improved in our conference. I don't want to wait until the trading deadline as my next opportunity to get excited. This process is killing me.

tp. If he signed with us now as-is (without a trade gutting the roster) we could be setting this team up for a dynasty where we are instantly a contender but have young guys with tons of potential (smart, brown, our future Brooklyn picks) who could be groomed to take the reigns eventually.  That's what the 60s Celtics did as they passed the torch to hondo.  That's what the 80s Celtics would have done with len bias. And eventually Reggie Lewis.

We could have a window of like 5 years of durant's prime and assuming we got some luck in the draft Durant could evolve into an old man role like Duncan as brad kept the team on top with new blood.

It would be amazing.  Fun to dream.

If we don't get Durant what's the point of Horford ? We won't win anything of significance.

Because I would rather spend that ridiculous money on a decent player that would fit into this system. I would hate for us to throw money at "nobody's" because there is nothing left. Horford should at least make us better. Without him and KD I certainly think we take a major step backward.

horford is a great player who would fit our system beautifully.  With him alone on board we should get 50+ wins and then if one of the young guys makes a leap we could be a real threat.   Also, adding Horford adds credibility.  Keep in mind the cap is jumping another 20 mil next season so even if we just signed Horford and called it an offseason, we would be looking at potentially having enough cap space next summer to add two max contracts to the core with Horford already on board.

55 wins, ECF appearance.

Oh hi Kevin Durant, Blake Griffin, Russell Westbrook, or Gordon Hayward: would you like 120 million dollars?

Not true. If Horford signs and Durant doesn't, Horford still attracts other high level free agents. Ryan Anderson would fit great here with Horford and I'm surprised no ones looked at that option. Celtics can still build a good team in FA by signing Horford.

Ryan Anderson is meeting with his final team (Houston) today then he will make his decision. Word is that he is linked to Toronto. His decision will probably be made before Horford makes his. So if we lose out - Anderson will be gone anyway.
