Started this in another thread but I'm on a roll listening to people
1. Misnomer - Ainge is trying to rip people off and will only make trades he wins.
Truth - Ainge will make good trades and has said this. He'd bend over backwards to accommodate other teams to get them what they want as well. He'd even decline trades that we are supposedly winning by the masses if it doesn't fit what we are trying to do. On paper we are winning such and such a trade for example if it doesn't fit into the bigger picture he wouldn't do it.
2. Misnomer - The Celtics aren't willing to spend
Truth - The Celtics are willing to spend but it has to be on the right players and the situation has to be there to spend on those players
3. Misnomer - Ainge is a bad drafter
Truth - Ainge is a very good drafter and drafts with purpose and vision. A lot of people hype up guys and who we should pick but they don't understand the bigger picture and how players fit into the bigger scheme of things.
4. Misnomer - The Celtics have promised fireworks
Truth - They have never promised that how fans think they mean it. They have said they are trying for that and the discussions that go on are that. But they aren't going to make bad moves
5. Misnomer - The Celtics aren't trying to win
Truth - They are doing everything possible in realistic terms to win and what is is best for the organization and their players. They are winning
6. Misnomer - just because a player is "better" means the celtics should make that trade
Truth - "better" is relative to so many things.
7. Misnomer - Ainge can't make the big move
Truth - He can it just has to be there and fit certain criteria. There are only so many stars in the NBA. There are also only maybe a handful that might be potentially available and making trades for those guys has to make sense and it doesn't right now. We are either giving up too much or that player doesn't necessarily lead to something else etc.. Teams asking prices are too high etc.
8. Misnomer - Ainge is stupid
Truth- Ainge is not stupid. It's his job unfortunately to protect the celtics from all the stupidity that is out there.
There are probably a million more too. But it's not as easy to do what Ainge does as people think. There are some situations where people would make mistakes where Ainge wouldn't. Other times there are situations where Ainge has made errors where he could have done better possibly. But his vision is clear.
