Pelton did his draft ranking again today, with Bender ahead of Ingram. He uses advanced stat models to project all players.

Pelton said,
"Remarkably, just two players are in both Ford's top 10 and the top 10 of my statistical projections, the group that tends to yield All-Stars more consistently."

Those two players are Simmons and Bender.

Vashro, whom Pelton refers to in the article, built much of this draft projection model. He has now likely been hired by the Nuggets in their scouting department. These projections seem pretty accurate, albeit (as Vashro admits) imperfect.

Vashro's formula weighs strength of leagues, difference of leagues to the NBA, small production samples, age, and much more.

If you are a stat nerd, read these articles. It's fascinating how he built this model and it seems remarkably accurate.

Sorry, I'm bumping this because I thought it was that cool. Anyone else find this as interesting? Anyone follow any other draft projection systems (other than the eye test)? I'd love to research other systems.

I thought it interesting.
Jaylen Brown will be an All Star in the next 5 years.
