  • GOT IT!!!
Around the same on all but Hunter. For a guy that was known as a shooter his numbers didn't really match up in college or as a rookie.

Was disappointed in RJ and Young's performances last year. Rozier and Mickey were solid.

Still feel like rozier was a reach. Would've preferred Portis or a wing prospect.

Mickey, jury's out.  I liked Harrell better in that range but Mickey has some intriguing attributes.

Hunter, I thought it was an OK gamble at that point in the draft, but I'm not surprised that he didn't look like an NBA player despite being a four year guy.
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

I feel about as good as I thought I would going into the season. I agree that if anyone let me down, it was RJ because his supposed strength was shooting but that didn't translate this year, but he had some good games this season. Rozier showed some flashes at the end of the season, and Mickey looked raw when he got time, but I didn't put too high expectations on them because they weren't high picks.

Truth of the matter is, if you can find just a decent rotation player in the mid to late first round, that is good enough for their selection because odds are against you finding someone that good in the spots the Celtics selected those guys.

It's true that there are guys like Portis and RHJ who could be better, but, I believe that if they were on the Celtics, they wouldn't get much time on this squad. Overall, I was happy with the rookie class.

list of people drafted in 2015 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2015_NBA_draft

so players drafted after Rozier, RJ, and Mickey, I think to me at least Josh Richardson stands out. I didn't follow much Miami ball this year but I think Josh played pretty well in the playoffs.

Rozier was also a surprise in the playoffs as I didn't expect BS to give him that much minutes for him when he didn't play much in the regular season

So all in all, I have to say, judging our draft position, I think we did ok

Looking at that draft as a whole, it seems like there was very little depth after the top 13-14 picks.

I think in the range where we drafted the talent pool was very thin, so if we end up with even one legit NBA player out of those three I'd consider the draft a success.

I'd much rather have Portis or RHJ than Rozier.  Seemed to be better players and are both at more of a position of need.

I'd have also rather gambled on a guy like McCullough instead of Hunter.  If he wasn't injured he likely would have been a lottery pick and for a team like Boston that seems like the type of gamble worth taking.

Agreed. I am not at all enamored with Ainge's performance in last year's draft. At all.

Are you EVER enamored with Ainge's performance in drafts?
no he's not and he'll never go on record for who should be drafted because that would come back to haunt him when that player ends up as crap -- just picks on one or two that shouldn't.

overall,
-warming up to Rozier as having a chance to be ok -- really wanted Portis
-Hunter didn't shoot as well as hoped but did everything better than expected.  could be a rotation player if he starts hitting his shot.
-Mickey looks like he could be a rotation big in a year or two.
