Every player in this draft thinks they are pretty good
I was laughing when i read this

He is ways away.  I would considee taking him at 23 or 31.  Stashing him somewhere for a few yeara

I was actually surprised when he said he and his agents think he is a lottery selection.

But then I read somewhere the Suns may be interested in him at #13.

If their interest is true, then it lines up with their reported interest in Bender -- they apparently want a long, mobile 7 footer who can shoot from the outside.

Whether they take Maker that early thus may depend on whether we take Bender.

But I would take any rumored interest by any team in any particular player with a big grain of salt at this time.
NBA Officiating - Corrupt?  Incompetent?  Which is worse?  Does it matter?  It sucks.

Both of these guys are can miss picks, hence take BPA, and draft Thon later in the draft.

To put that quote "I'm pretty good" in context, somebody asked him what impression he got from all the workouts he had with teams so far.

I think he was really saying the impression he got was they thought he was pretty good.

Just a comment on draft predictions after watching the MLB draft tonite. You can't go by the pre-draft rankings. Teams have their own rankings that can be widely different. The #1 and 3 projected players fell to #13 and 11 in the MLB draft. The Red Sox were lucky enough to bag the projected #1, the LHP Groom. They say he dropped because of "maturity" issues. Carpe diem.

I couldn't help but recall when Pierce famously fell to the Celtics in the NBA draft. Can't recall why he fell.

Sixers had made a promise to Hughes and didn't want to be the franchise to back out on a promise, so they kept it.  See linked video to interview with Larry Brown who says he would have taken Pierce without the promise.

Pierce also supposedly told the Raptors at 4 and Kings at 7 that he didn't want to play for them.  None of the other teams really had a need until Boston.  In addition, there were grumblings that some of his workouts were poor and people questioned his attitude.

I'd be pretty happy nabbing Maker at 23, and allowing him to take the Red Claws route of development. Kid has talent, and 23 is a place where you take a chance.

That said, I don't think you can take him at 16. And more so, if were not planning on bringing back ET, we should really target Valentine with the 16th pick. Kid is ready to play right now, is very similar to Turner, and can hit the outside shot. Between Smart, Rozier and Valentine, someone would emerge as the secondary ball-handler off the bench.

Why do you like Valentine and want him at 16?  Yikes.  He's a terrible defender who is too small to guard 3s and not nearly quick enough to guard 2s, let alone point guards, and I've never seen him go left or even use said hand to finish anything, which, to me, anyway, is pretty alarming, considering that he's a senior, and you'd expect a guy like that to be more well rounded.  I'll give you the passing and shooting, sure, but if you want a much better version of the same skill set, Caris LeVert is the guy to go with at 16, imo.  Better athlete, ball handler, has a nice step back, his length creates problems (deflections, etc.), he's an excellent passer, and he can guard 2s, 3s, and I've even seen him on point guards and do a very good job because, again, of his length.  I guess this is how I look at it - if Draymond Green had not become what he is today (and I personally think he's overrated), would Valentine have received nearly the same kind of attention that he did this year and be compared to Dr. Dray ;D (which is unwarranted, imo), because I don't.  I think he'd just be looked at as another good-to-great college player who doesn't have the physical attributes necessary to stay in the league, but I'm probably wrong.  Can you actually see him getting minutes with his defensive deficiencies, because I can't.  That's all I'm saying.

16 is too early for maker.  23 or 31.  I could see that.

He reeks of bust. I wouldn't take him in the first round.
