Last year, we were were unable to trade any of our 2015 draft picks. What happens if we go into draft night 2016 with all of our picks and the same fate awaits us? In short, these so-called assets will quickly become liabilities given the scarcity of available roster spots for rookies...

My opinion: Danny has to unload at least half of these picks prior to draft night. We simply cannot afford to risk being stuck drafting eight players.

For example, I would feel a lot more comfortable if Danny was able to trade 16, 23, 31 and 35 in some sort of combination in order to move up as much as possible. Vogel may want to inject some of his own youth onto the Magic, so perhaps we trade 16, 23, 31 and 35 for Orlando's 11? We can afford to draft two lottery players (imagine adding Bender and Pöltl to our front court) and use our remaining second-rounders on draft-and-stash players (or trade one or more of them for future second-rounders). Of course, moving 16, 23, 31 and 35 for a solid rotational player is another avenue.

While I think Danny can, and will, trade several of the picks, worst case scenario is we draft 3 first rounders on guaranteed deals, and 5 second rounders who can audition in summer league.  If one of those pans out and looks like a diamond in the rough, he could then make a trade to free up a roster spot.  He can also  draft all draft and stash Euros in the second round.  Not a huge risk.

Ainge can trade some of those 2nds for future 2nds. He might not be able to consolidate the picks and trade up but he can keep the picks for future drafts.

This is in reference to the title only. To the actual OP, we can carry (I believe) up to 20 guys on the roster until roster cuts start, and the rookies still have to sign a contract as well, so I wouldn't worry.

Danny is not dumb .......nobody looks as long and hard to get the most for a player or flip an asset.

He can flip two seconds for future seconds at any point this draft. He can also draft two stash players. Just like that he is down to 4 picks. He doesn't have to do anything pre draft.

I'd like us to trade out and up. One trade that would make sense for all involved is #22, #35 and #45 for the Wizards' 2018 first round pick, top 7 protected. Wizards don't have a pick in this year's draft, and they could use some youth. We could also make a similar deal with the Knicks.

Also, our two picks in the deep 50's aren't really worth anything anyway. Just take some random Euro guy and see if they become anything overseas. Or trade both of them for a 2019 second rounder that could be in the 40's.

I would rather have the assets than not.

Sully is a great illustration how an asset became a liability, draft picks not so much.
