Whats the rules between restricted and un restricted?

Say they get offers from other team that are too rich for Boston, and with our roster space it makes it a no brainer to let them go.   Since they both have mutual respect for Brad and the team, maybe they would be willing to do a sign and trade for a Trade Exception/ future picks or player to be named later.  Kinda a win win if they do.   Better than letting them walk.  But how does that work?

Say they get offers but do not sign the offer sheet.  Or do they even have to sign them.  Its not like they have to accept any offer.   Say they like the location and money from the other team.  But are willing to take a discount to say, but we decide the numbers still do not work.  Can we make a sign and trade deal?    And Boston offers them the same amount team x does.  Can we do that.  From what I heard is this:

The deals can not include other players.  So each deal is separate.   And we can take back 125% of their contract.

Sign and Trades don't benefit the player at all, all they would do would delay the new FAs getting their new deals. I don't see them happening at all in this offseason of flush cap space.

Trades where you get a TE back is when a team OVER the cap signs and trades a FA to a team while taking back less salary. You only have TEs when you are over the cap, they have a cap hold for that reason.

There is so much cap space out there it won't happen.

They could be throw in's in a trade prior to July 1st.  The receiving team would at least have their restricted rights I believe to match offers. A little value I guess in trades.

No, that is not how it works at all.  They cannot be traded before July 1st.

SAY A TEAM out there has no cap space and a couple expiring deals that would fill out our roster.   Could we sign and trade turner for two of there unwanted players?

Yes, but a) Why would we, and b) There are like 3-4 teams without cap room this summer.

Couldn't a sign and trade allow a player to get more money because of signing first with his home team?

I have heard Sully's name thrown out in sign and trades, I think that it is wishful thinking that a team is going to want a rebound specialist, who is overweight, out of shape, and can't shoot.
