If the celtics decide to go young why not hand the reigns to Smart? Isaiah is 27 and doing his best to recruit but he might not get his wish.

This may become more of a process than we imagined. Isaiah would have pretty good trade value to pick up additional picks and build a young nucleus.

I don't think Smart is ready just yet but if the C's can't find pieces to put around Isaiah I could see his stay here being shortlived.

I don't see it. I think Danny already built a foundation with him as one of the building blocks. But we need upgrade on other parts like shooting and rim protection.

What if we can't put pieces around him though?  Seems to me like Smart is our pg of the future if we want him to be.  He isn't ready yet though.  If we go another year and can't put a championship team on the floor with Isaiah I could see the C's looking to move him maybe.

Just because Scal loves IT and thinks he's the  best player in the nba if he were 6'1" doesn't mean he is untouchable.  Scal loved David Lee too.

I could see a shift happening this year if we don't put those pieces around him and Smart starts to show signs.

Thomas is on a cap friendly contract and relatively young and the only "go-to scorer" Boston has at the moment. Would be surprised if Ainge trades him in the upcoming season.

I am not a huge Isaiah fan.  I think he is here recruiting which is all well and good but he's not the end all be all to me.  I'd rather build with Marcus at point ultimately.

I question the logic we are going to be able to put a team together good enough to beat some of the really good teams.  Isaiah is good paired with a couple all stars could happen.  The NBA is overrated that way and so lebron james these days.

But I wish we'd build like Red in ways....  Smart on the other hand I hope we don't trade.  I wish we'd develop our own guys.  I think Smart has more potential that way.

I feel like if we are going to get 2 all star players to go with isaiah it's going to involve trading smart and some of young players and picks to do it.  I'd rather trade Isaiah and build with smart and those picks.

I dont even know if trading smart plus picks is going to be enough to get what we need to go with isaiah. Isaiah to me is fun to watch, but if this team is going to really make some noise it's with MArcus at point imo.

I know crazy and I doubt the Celtics will change gears like that but I wish they would if they wanted to really build this the right way.

I don't see it happening this year but would be a nice transition to it where Ainge can fool us for  a bit longer.  I don't even think Ainge sees it that way but I wish he would.

We have a ton of picks where Ainge could really build this around Marcus at pg.

I think Smart and these nets picks are our biggest assets. I would try to trade Isaiah for player somewhere else maybe.   I feel like Ainge sees it the opposite way and that we are going to trade Marcus and all these picks for 2 players to go with Isaiah.  I'm kind of meh on that.  I feel like Red Auerbach would be too.

Not sure about that. Remember, Danny refused to include Tony Allen and Rondo for the KG deal. He love his defensive guards. Auerbach had the same sentiment too. I would compare them to KC-Sam duo.

What, if anything, does Thomas have in common with Rondo? They both play in the NBA. They both play PG. They both leveraged the Kings to find a new home in FA. That's pretty much it (thankfully).

I want to trade Isaiah. His cap-friendly contract will not last forever.
