As I have watched us struggle this series, particularly being unable to hit open jumpers to stop the defense from packing it in, I couldn't help but think this team could use someone like Bass. Obviously we need much bigger moves (Cousins, Butler, or really anyone that can create their own shot). However, that being said, he seemed really well liked by the front office, was always very professional and seems like a good celtic.

Thoughts?

I like him as a cheap option if we can land a few max free agent cousins/butler and Durant .

No Pass Bass?
Sign me up, we could really use him right now!

I'd definitely rather re-sign him for cheap then re-sign Sully for way more than he is worth (which in my opinion isn't much these days)

haha this is one of the first free agents people seem to agree on. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.

I wouldn't mind bass...I think if we do in fact have fireworks...amir is gone...so is sully so Bass is perfect...wish we had him now!

It's funny how this thread was created right after I mentioned signing Brandon Bass is my big dream idea Thread

TP for the idea before me! I was just thinking of KG's jumpshot and then how he was beyond cooked (but somehow coming back next year), then I thought, hey Bass can still shoot.

At least Bass was a reliable scoring option, and could hit a jumper and rebound. He's 31, as a 2nd unit option, this is a good idea to fill a role, and for reasonable money hopefully.

I still don't really understand why he signed with the Lakers for low money and to be hardly utilized.

Brandon Bass holds zero value to any team trying to win games.  The league agrees as he was offered nothing in the off season other than a basically vet minimum deal from a tanking team.  He is the polar opposite of what you want from a PF in today's NBA as he can't spread the floor and is one of the most over rated defenders of all time.  The truth is he is just bad on both ends of the floor.

I don't have any advanced stats but he seems pretty lethal on jumpers in my memory. I'm also not sure how he is a bad defender. I can understand also saying nobody offered him more than a vet rebuilding contract because that is what he signed for, but perhaps there is something more to the story than that. Maybe he really wanted to try living in LA, maybe he really thought it would be a good experience playing with Kobe or he relished the concept of teaching Randle and Nance about the playoffs. I admit all of these sound moderately silly on the surface, but the point is we don't really know. I would be very surprised if he does not get either more than the minimum, or a minimum as a rotation player on a playoff team this offseason.

If he did he is an idiot as he just declined a 3.1 million dollar player option

"Bass’ decision isn’t too surprising as his option was only for $3.1 million next season and it is very likely that he could make more than that as a free agent this summer, especially with the salary cap set to rise."

Please no.
Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

I'm on board, only if any of Sully/KO or Jerebko are gone.
