  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
I liked what I saw from Rozier last night. I liked what I saw from Zeller at times. Jerebko's stat line looks better than I remember him playing, but he's got that stupid hair cut so that might tarnish my recall. Crowder, Thomas, Smart, and Sullinger were all screen doors in our submarine and they can all have a timeout to think about what they've done.

Sully set some crazy good screens to open up Hawk shooters in that first quarter.

His pick and roll defense was the stuff of lowlight legends.

Durant's not coming here, neither is Horford. It's doubtful we can acquire Butler or Cousins. Thomas can't get it done against playoff competition and game planning.

Are offense is dreadful, Kelly is make out of glass and we got unlucky with Avery.

The worst pick we can get is the sixth pick Which means  we will get the sixth pick. Simmons, Ingram, Bender, Hield, Brown, will all be gone and Ainge will take Dunn.

We scored 7 points in a quarter the worst EVER in the shot clock era.
The sky is falling. Woe is me. Someone please console me, the end is near.

All of the above could happen, and we'd still be in a decentish position to rebuild, so there's that.

Don't stress it.  We're supposed to lose in Atlanta.   We just need to get the job done in Boston and try to sneak a victory on their home court.   We almost beat them in game 1.  I think we can cope with missing Bradley, but it definitely requires adjusting.  Stevens will work some stuff out.

We still have a shot.

Really, though, Atlanta is a solid team and there's no shame in losing to them.  This playoff appearance is mostly just an appetizer for next season.  I really believe the team is in great position to make upgrades this Summer.  We will definitely have options.  I'm excited to see what Ainge pulls the trigger on.

Not to be negative, but you're forgetting KO and an unhealthy Crowder as well. So that is actually three shooters we have lost. There is no adjustment to be made. Atlanta swarms the paint, and we can't hit jumpshots. It's pretty simple. Either they make the shots or they don't. I'm going to go out on a limb and say they won't because those specific players haven't all season. We cannot overcome those injuries.

Last night made it clear than we need a scorer. A big-time scorer. Not that it's something new but it's just a crude reminder of the reality.

If you have to overpay for one, be it, but ideally it would be KD or Cousins.

A big-time scorer alone won't fix everything on a woeful shooting team like this one.

We need multiple scorers, which is going to require the expenditure of a bunch of our so-called "assets." Be interesting to see if Ainge is willing to pay market prices.

To beat GS sure. But can we get out of the first round first so we can attract other players to come here?

Yup.  And frankly, i have no problem overpaying.

Technically, we can't overpay for KD because his market price will be a full max.

But if we also trade for someone like Butler or Cousins or Love, I have no problem, "overpaying" excess assets and picks because, ultimately, we can't field a roster of 20.
NBA Officiating - Corrupt?  Incompetent?  Which is worse?  Does it matter?  It sucks.

No team in the NBA gets to be a top team without getting lucky at some level.  The current top team had good fortune that Curry fell to them in the draft and Green has been a huge surprise.

SA has the least amount of luck of the current top teams but drafting Duncan still required luck.  They have been savvy about getting players like Parker, Leonard, and Ginobili, but there is some luck in that too.

Cleveland?  They are lucky that LeBron came from Ohio, oh and let's not forget they got, what was it, 3 #1 picks in 4 years?

So yes, if the Celtics are going to return to the top, some luck would help.  They need it.  They just aren't that good as currently constituted (my negativity part).  Draft picks are a crap shoot and FA signings often end up that you over pay and are disappointed.  Trades are extremely difficult, especially trades that result in a home run.

The Celtics are due for some luck.

What is your arguement for cousins? Please do not through stats out there because they have not equaled wins. His team has no business not being at least 500. He is clearly a locker room issue. This is like getting Carmelo Anthony. Do you want to trade away lottery picks for a guy who would lead us down the same path as Melo? People on this board need to be patient. We are only in year 3 of the rebuild.
