Imagine what he could do with a 6'10" Oscar Robertson type of talent

Some fans are going to be incredibly disappointed if these are their expectations.
Yeah and it is incredibly unfair to Simmons.  Oscar was a significantly better scorer in college (and the pros obviously) than Simmons will ever be.  Much better ball handler and shooter.  I get why people jump to that comparison because of the triple double, but Oscar was a monster scorer and was his entire career (from high school to college to the pros).  I mean the triple double season, his per game numbers were 5th in the league in scoring, 9th in rebounds, and obviously led the league in assists.  The more modern day guys like Magic and Kidd or Draymond Green weren't those kind of scorers.  Lebron James is the guy that most closely resembles Oscar Robertson and Simmons should not be compared to James (and isn't) because the scoring and ball handling is just not there (and never will be).
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Simmons is hard to compare because he's really his own player.  I agree he isn't oscar robinson though.    He's more magic without the creative passing in ways.  I think he's more talented than Odom.  He's more like a taller John Wall or a more talented Evan Turner. If Magic were somewhat bland like Tim Duncan but didn't necessarily have those fundamentals and was more instinctive vs skilled like these new age players he'd be simmons in ways.   I don't know if instinctive is the right word though.  He utilizes his talent but has to learn. His upside is somewhat limited that way just the type of player he is.  But he is supremely talented.

None of these guys we've seen against stiff competition.  Not that it overly matters anyways right now.  Youtube and the internet is scewed but has enough information on these guys where you can get enough information if you look at it that way  without actually seeing them in person.

Any of these guys has the ability to get fat or not develop as well at this point. With stevens we are drafting based on their potential though.  Smart was a guy who played with a certain something and you could tell just from watching highlights though.   It's how you interpret them really.  I think a lot of people assume everyone is stupid in ways.  I'm not.  Yes the internet has a lot of people who have a tendency to jump to conclusions.  I'm not doing that at all though.  Never been that way. Always had a knack for this stuff too.  I'm wrong sometimes but not stupid. Lacking knowledge sometimes, just because of the internet or just hard to tell sometimes for sure with a small sample size.  Very patient with guys we draft etc..  Try to see different viewpoints etc.  I like Simmons. I get he is a top prospect for a reason.    Hard to convey how i see things over the internet anyways..

I feel this draft is actually strong but has less hype than the Wiggins draft. There is more possible bust potential at the top and questions just because of style of play, foreigners etc, but interesting players.

I think this draft drops off somewhat after the top 4 or 5 and 10-15 though. It's still pretty strong throughout though.

There are 2 or 3 superstar potential talents at the top by my estimation.

Almost better if we end up with the 2nd pick. Can't mess it up.
