Did anyone catch him today? He was on some Boston radio show apparently, I didn't see anyone posting about it. So I was wondering if anyone listened and what the important things were that he said.
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

He was on Felger and Mazz for close to an hour. He emphasized the stability of the organization, noting how long Ainge has been here and implying that Ainge and Stevens would be here for a while. Also, he mentioned the ability to have cap space for two max players and that they could use the '16 BK pick in a deal. He took calls and went toe-to-toe with Felger and Mazz who are known to be critical of the Cs and the fans (green teamers). Good to see him be available and transparent to the fans.

Those are a couple of the talking points but I'm sure I'm missing a few and some of the details. It would be great if someone had a transcript, link, or more comprehensive breakdown. I'm sure it'll be up in podcast form soon enough.

I like Wyc and all and understand the patient approach and that  it's not all on this year.   But I also don't like how Ainge and Wyc don't just stay in the moment and try to win each  year and maximize the season.  As far as moves and stuff like that sure and front office stuff, but Talking about it like no biggy if we lose right now, when the playoffs havent even started is kind  of meh to me. We should try to maximize each year at this point on the court.  Doing so hurts nothing. Teams do not get many opportunities at winning a championship and being in the playoffs is that.  If we can win this year that would be awesome regardless of whether we are expected to or not.  We  should push for that each year imo now that we are a playoff caliber team. That builds character vs just going through the motions of oh well who cares if we lose. This is a franchise that won 8 in a row. So when it comes time like we should win there isn't so much pressure then too.  Are some day Ainge and Wyc going to be like nows the year?

This Miami game should be a must win.  When we get in the playoffs we should be trying to win a championship as well.

Every time we get in the playoffs it's an opportunity to win a title out of 16 teams.   We are ranked somewhere in the middle of that pack right now as well. That isn't an opportunity to win a title?   We've been in the top 6-8 teams all year. So we are going to drop down to the 6th seed and b e like ah well after 82 games?

I like Wyc and all but I'm not sure he understands celtics history and who guys like Bill Russell were. It's a marathon not a sprint but Wyc is no Bill Russell here with those comments. The world could end tomorrow for all we know.

Regular season sure. Playoffs are different.  The playoffs have nothing to do with the future. It's win or go home.

Ainge and Wyc saying stuff like that just sends the wrong message to the team.  Wyc just sounds like your run of the mill Felger idiot with those comments there just trying to be like them.

For the execs at felger and maz show:

I didn't hear Wyc interview because I'd never listen to those negative jerks (and yes I have many more words to insert there for felger) he comes on tv I shut it off or change channel

I'd much rather have an owner who seems to have a sense of where the team actually is at and what is likely to happen, as opposed to a guy who just likes to hang out in his luxury box sipping champagne with a big smile on his face and in every interview says "We're gonna do everything it takes to win a championship!" every single season no matter what.

I mean, for goodness sake, I doubt even Tommy is talking about championship runs with this team yet.

That's not what I'm saying at all though.  We are in the playoffs we should be trying to maximize that opportunity.  It affects nothing as far as the future.  It's the playoffs. Logically speaking we should be trying to win.  I think Wyc has been drinking and isn't thinking logically.

The regular season, trade deadline and offseason are about building. The playoffs are there for two reasons. Win or go home period.

I also think all the hard work put in this year we should be trying real hard to win the miami game.  We should want the 4th seed. It sends the wrong message.

No effective manager of a business or a sports franchise does that when there are penalties and rules in place to effectively prevent such a strategy.  This isn't the MLB where the Yankees, Red Sox, Dodgers, etc. can just drown out the competition with money.  And even that doesn't work very often.

Wyn and Danny are being super smart about this.  There are a dozen teams that would love to unload a big veteran contract on the Cs for a couple prospects and some picks, especially the Brooklyn ones.  But the Cs don't need to make those moves right now.  Everything is trending up.

Did Wyc say anything to indicate the team wasn't going to try and win games?

I think acknowledging that while you would love to see your team go two or three rounds at least, you'd be pleased just to see them win a playoff series, considering that two years ago the team had a bottom 5 record, is pretty reasonable.

What does this have to do with the playoffs and maximizing this season at this point?  Our team is set. I'm talking about winning games.  Not front office stuff.

For comparison sake I made this post two weeks ago and agree with you but at this point it doesn't matter

An all star point guard, a max free agent, and a three first round picks.

Ainge is a genius.
