Olshey is a worthy candidate, but I think Buford has to be EOTY.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

Anybody have some opposing arguments on Sixth Man?  I thought that was one hard to choose.

Anybody want to passionately argue in favor of a different DPOY candidate?  Maybe a third name that ought to be mentioned in the conversation at least?

I'm interested to see what other people have for All-NBA and All-Defense.

I think Curry is extremely questionable as an All-Defense candidate and Milsap only slightly less questionable.

There have been three big names for 6MOY: Kanter, Turner, and Crawford. It think it goes to Kanter or Turner, and I unfortunately think Kanter gets the nod, even though Turner is much more crucial to our success than Kanter is to OKC's success. Turner is a much better all around player than Kanter, but the two higher stats in points and rebounds probably gets it for Kanter.

EK: 12.8, 8.1, 0.4, 0.4, 0.3

ET:  10.4, 4.9, 4.5, 0.4, 1.0

It's pretty crazy that ET has the same blocks per game as EK, which shows how one-dimensional EK really is.

I'd think Kanter would be a boring pick for 6th man, media people might not vote for him. Also there's the question of his effectiveness on the court. Does his contribution produce wins for the team? I'd much rather vote for a player that plays a vital role for the team, and the team is largely ineffective without him. I'd pick guys like patty Mills, Schroeder, and Finals MVP AI.

I'm sure he deserves a lot of credit for planning to go after LMA years in advance.

Still, I give more credit to the guy who refurbished half his team with guys nobody else wanted that much, and got his team back to the playoffs despite losing his central player and three other starters.

Curry gets a couple steals a game and plays for one of the best defenses in the league, so I don't think it's crazy.  Paul and Lowry are valid choices there too.

As for Millsap, I think you're sleeping on him.  Who do you credit for the fact that the Hawks have been the 2nd best defense in the league?

Millsap covers multiple positions, gets blocks and steals, and also carries a major offensive load for his team despite that.  He's still underrated despite the fact that he's so important for that Hawks team.

He also killed the Celts tonight.

Yeah, I might have been sleeping on Milsap. I haven't watched the Hawks too much this year, but he certainly looked improved defensively.

Still don't like the Curry selection, though.

I mostly agree except for Curry on All-Defense. He's good in their scheme and plays hard, but Lowry and Paul have been better, in my opinion. Other than that, I personally don't have a problem. Now, I do see a few that I predict the media will definitely pick differently though.

Also, I think you can only have two guards per All-NBA team. Maybe I'm wrong though.

I rewarded Curry for being on one of the best defensive teams.  Lowry's team is only 11th in Defensive Efficiency.  It was a tough choice, though.

As for positions ... yeah I played fast and loose with the All-NBA positions because I wanted to prioritize players I thought were actually the best.

Harden plays a lot of SF though so I think that's justified.

I know you're admitting to playing fast and loose here, but All-NBA teams are still positioned based with 2 guards, 2 forwards, and 1 center per team, so you're way off with 7 guards, 7 forwards, and only 1 center. I see something like:

Curry, Westbrook, LeBron, Durant, Cousins

Paul, Harden, Leonard, George, Drummond

Lillard, Thompson, Green, Aldrigde, Jordan

Although, I'm not sold on the teams, I really think those will be the 15 players. That guard position is loaded, too many guys deserve to be there, but there can only be 6.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

You're probably right about the all nba teams. The league talent is just skewed toward the guard positions right now.

So, honestly, you could make a good case for Danny being GM of the year this year. Boris had this to say in the Brooklyn Nets game thread:

"Danny Ainge is on the verge of getting us home court in the first round, a perfect "tank," a solid bevy of mid-range draft picks and enough cap room to pursue anyone we feel like pursuing....ALL IN THE SAME SEASON."

Even if some of these moves happened some time ago and we're now just reaping the benefits, that's some seriously smart GMing.
