when crowder got hurt alot fell on smarts back
defending best players in multiple games with also pressure to score and being in a humilating slump
i believe as a result smart took a flop too far ,refs were not giving him calls and smart responded with a streetball reaction
marcus is playing basketball now and not jacking shots but is using his defence to influence games and piling up assists
turner ,marcus and jerebko played basketball very well last night-

Marcus went Rondo!!

I think Smart is better off not shooting. He hurts the team too much. Do all the other things like last night. Last night was the perfect game for him. Only 2 shots, tons of assists and a big impact on the defensive end.

  • That's turrible
I used to think Smart's game was going to be more like Gary Payton. I'm convinced with the way he's going, he's turning out to be more like Jason Kidd with red hot defense. His college coach mentioned it in an interview somewhere, but he really is better working as a facilitator rather than trying to be a scorer. Real good at getting his teammates involved and seems to have a real nice bball IQ. It's exciting! I hope he sticks around in Boston for a while. He'll look real good once Danny can get a couple more decent scorers around him.

Haven't seen a box score yet - don't need to

Smart and turner keyed the 2ndQ comeback by pushing the pace and sharing the ball

Smart's decision- making was excellent

For Marcus to average 9+ points considering all of the factors he currently has working against him bodes well for him...

I said this with Avery and I'll repeat it with Marcus, one factor affecting his offense is that the amount of energy he expends on defense, negatively affects his offense. Players cede defensive effort to increase/maintain offensive effectiveness. It's the reason why players like Lebron, George, Butler, etc. appear to have slipped defensively... They choose to dial it back in exchange for energy on the offensive end.

Another factor is the disrespect Marcus is receiving from the ref syndicate... A crucial part of Smart's game is drawing contact and getting to the line; it almost looks as if he's being targeted for no-calls.

Lack of confidence in his driving/finishing ability, his shot needing to be reworked, and him identifying and implementing a go-to move are the other factors. Considering all of these factors, it should be no surprise that he's inefficient.

Back to the topic, Smart has shown excellent court vision throughout his young career. I think that he will eventually become the floor general version of him that we saw in summer league. Something like 15/7/5 with excellent defense.
