I know the 76ers had quite a bit a year or two ago.  But The Celtics have 8 picks for the 2016 draft (3 1sts, 5 2nds).   This has to be a record right?

I hope we can couple a few to move up. Or use for a trade.   Otherwise we should finally see Danny picking some foreign prospects for once.

it's pretty surprising we have this many picks
Esp when teams in this era tend to not trade picks as they have potential for cheap nice young talent
I.e. Spurs dominance by making smart draft choices

Ya, 8 picks would set the record for a 2 round draft.

Currently Philly has the record (in a 2 round draft) with 7 total picks in '14, as well as the record for most 2nd round picks with 5, set in '14 and tied again in '15.

A few teams share the record for most 1st round picks: Kings had 4 in '90, Atl had 4 in '99, Min had 4 in '09.

Now what's really crazy is the draft used to go on until teams didn't want to pick anymore.  Chicago drafted 22 players through 21 rounds in the '68 draft.  That's a record I doubt will ever be broken.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

I think a better question would be how successful were teams in getting a star player that had lots of draft picks within a certain criteria, like teams that had three or more 1st round picks, how successful were teams in landing a star that met that criteria? How about teams that had over 4 2nd round picks, how successful were they at drafting a star? How about teams that had 6 or more total draft picks in two rounds, how did teams that had that many draft picks care in nabbing a star in a draft? Those are questions I want answered!

Summer league games will be a lot of fun.

You got Rozier, Hunter, Mickey and possibly 8 draft picks competing for 5-7 roster spots. This might be the most intense SL the Celtics have had.

Forgot about James Young. Wonder if he can play as a third year player or if he will even want to play SL ball.

It will be interesting to see what happens with these picks.  To me only the first 5 picks really matter, and are useful in trades.  The 3 mid/late second round picks will be the Colton Iverson/Marcus Thornton types that will probably play overseas but we retain their rights for the NBA.

Donuts,

You are probably right but imagine if we did. Summer league would be one crazy tryout to try to make the team.

and how many from that 2nd round picks 76ers had are still in the NBA??   I can only think of 2

From the 2016 draft only wish to use 2 picks (to be on the roster next season) and 1 or 2 for draft and stash

worst case can see 3 or 4 2nds sold to other teams. Like the Cavs.  They always seem to be buying a 2nd round pick every draft
