 I'll sum it up for you. The doctors were freaked out by Walton's x-rays his feet, knees, hands, wrist were toast. They didn't know what to say to Red.

 Red bursts into the hospital smoking his cigar, they said Red look at these X-rays, he says shut up! I'm in charge here. He said Bill can you play. He says yes. Red says he passes and the rest is history!
