It was just a thought I had while driving to work a couple of days ago.

I didn't know if it was possible; I knew Boston got a pick for Doc.

Watching the out of TO plays Brad draws up is one of my favorite parts of this Celtic team; I don't even know if I would make this trade were it possible.

Either way is no gimme

^that's the spirit

we should also make Danny himself available for trades and -why not- Wyc; time for them to prove they are real troopers, ready to take one for the team and help realize the dreams we C's fans have while driving to work.

not a dream, a thought, a wondering, something to make the traffic a little less tedious while waiting out the 3 days between games

So it would be the Boston Labrons, the guard rotation would include Lowery, IT, Smart & Bradley and Steph Curry would be one of the owners.

Is there any rule against owners playing?

Sigh. This shouldn't even be a question. You take KD all day. Top 5 player in the league or top 5 coach? Are you serious? Yes, the spurs might not have won without Pop, but every championship team would not have won without their star player. Period.

The question is, would the Thunder be a better team if they lost Durant in free agency, and got Pop as a coach?

My argument here is that there are a lot of star players in the NBA, but there are actually very few truly elite coaches.

My other argument is that coaches are much more dependable than players.  You don't every (at least very rarely) need to worry they will miss games due to injury, or walk in free agency.  If a coach is happy and his team is competitive, he's probably going to stick around.  Players on the other hand walk all the time.

Coaches also tend to outlast players, because you can be 70 and still coach - but players rarely remain effective past the age of 35.

How many star players make other players on the team better?  The great coaches makes EVERY player on the team better.

It will not happen. There is no precedent in NBA history. And I think it is very unlikely to see a similar star for coach trade in the future too.

Besides, the whole idea is pointless: if KD wants to play in Boston, he can sign here as an FA in the summer without forcing his future team to give up its talented coach.

If he does not want to sign with us in the summer, no point in giving up CBS for him.

Either way, it makes no sense.

Well I'm sorry but your argument would be wrong.  The NBA is a players league (as they say).  Great player over great coach all day every day.  BS is a good story, and he is making a nice name for himself, but let's not pretend like he's accomplished anything yet.  We are a nice story but no real threat as of yet.

Now that doesn't mean you can just mix any set of players together and win.  They have to fit together and be as good as fans think they are.  But players are the main course; coaches are the dessert.
