The lead on hoopshype RUMORS today is how difficult it will likely be to trade Hendo.  He can play both SG and SF, where we could use some depth.

This is a buy low idea that Danny tends to like.  Hendo is a very solid defender whose three point shot seems to be much better this year (37.5%) and over 34% the last four years averaged.  Not stellar, but very solid, especially to add to our poor shooting three pointers.

Thoughts?

This also saves us about $1 million on the year.

A shooting guard with a TS% below .500? Questionable actual results on D?  A guy who has passed peak age taking playing time from our young players?

I don't see how he saves money over Jerebko--looks to me like he costs more this year and has a player's option next year--whereas JJ only has a team option.

My bad on the salaries.  He would cost us $1 million more.  GH has an AFG% of 44% this year and JJ has an AFG% of 43%.  We are not giving up a real defensive stopper in JJ!!!  Lebron's eyes lite up every time he saw JJ TRYING to guard him.  He is physically very weak.

Hendo had the 11th BEST DRPM last year for shooting guards!!

P.S.  I live about 45 minutes from Time Warner Arena (Hornet's home court) and have watched Hendo for years.  He is a very solid defender!!!  He would flourish in our defensive system!!

I'd do it, especially if the trade nets us his Bird Rights.  These days you can never have too many wing defenders who can hit a 3.  He'd make AB more expendable which would be good, because after this year's BKN pick and Smart I think AB is our most valuable trade asset.

Henderson wouldn't set the world on fire, but I think he'd be a valuable addition to this team.
