Yes. Nothing else to spend money on. Fills a big need. Who would you rather have a young Whiteside or old Amir and Jonas combined 18 million.

Amir and Jonas are just two years older than Whiteside. Not much of an age disparity there.

But anyway, I'd rather invest my money on someone who I can rely on in the 4th quarter. Whiteside is a great talent but if you noticed during the Heat game they didn't play him in the 4th quarter because of his free throw shooting woes. He fits into the Deandre Jordan/Dwight Howard/Andre Drummond fold. Great defensive talents/elite rebounders whose FTs issues are exploited if played in crunch time.

You're telling me that you wouldn't welcome Deandre Jordan, Dwight Howard or Andre Drummond onto this team, given the chance?

I certainly would.

Would I welcome them to the team? Yes. Would I invest a max level-deal to get them? No. For all that those guys bring to the table you can't rely on them in crunchtime because the opposition will hack them to death. I may be wrong but I think Atlanta used this tonight a lot on Drummond and it could have been what cost the Pistons the game.

I can certainly see why people would want guys like them and they're not crazy to think as such. It's just personally, I have a phobia of investing a lot of money in guys who aren't reliable in the 4th quarter. As much as I loved what Rondo did here, his FT and inconsistent jumper always scared me.

I guess to summarize, if it was at the right price, I'd like Whiteside, but to give him a max level deal when he can't play at the end of games, I'd pass.

Easy.
1. It would be much better to trade for John Henson right now. Because of the floor spacing problem on that team they can not play Henson and Monroe together. Henson signed a deal this summer I believe for 11mil a year.

2. Trade for Myles Turner. He still needs to correct the muscle imbalance which may take 2 years, but he can play and at a high level during the 2 years. He hurt his thumb and has been out but he showed in the start of the regular season that he was able to contribute right away and was even fighting over Mahini, Allen, Hill for starting spot.
-he can protect the rim, shoot and spred the floor, hit his ft at 83% clip so he can stay in at end of games, can pass, and has the potential to get much more athletic after or during his pt for muscle imbalance/funky running...which has gotten much betterfrom end of college->draft/combine and then got better from summer league->regular season(check his gait on his shot and how he runs if you don't think so)

HENSON WOULD HELP NOW WHILE TURNER WOULD CONTRIBUTE AND POSSIBLY START AS THE SEASON GOES ALONG. BUT TURNER IS THE GUY TO MOVE WITH GOING FORWARD. CBS COULD DO MANY THINGS WITH A TEAM THAT HAD A GUY WITH TURNER'S ABILITIES.

I originally thought to myself, no way. Then, after looking at free agents and draft boards, I started to sway to, OK, maybe.  The thinking is, ping pong balls fall our way and we do wind up top three.  iMovie, that's one of the three SF's; Simmons, Ingram, Brown.  Bring in Whiteside for the missing inside piece and we still have other pieces that can be dealt.
