I don't think Rollie was suggesting trading Mickey, rather finding some of the undervalued players around the league who can develop in Maine like Mickey has.

I like the idea of trading for a guy like Capella or Anderson but I think the trouble at the moment is roster spots. If we make a trade this year for a superstar then I imagine we will free up some roster spots by nature of consolidation of assets. I could then imagine us picking up a guy like Capella or Montiejunas from the Rockets for a couple of picks in this year's draft. I think that would be worthwhile and would probably happen on draft night
thanks my original post was rather abstract-i wasn't suggesting mickey at all but sometimes clubs go for best available or need and find out the player or fit isn't right or they might get seduced into a trade by ainge for a young starter or vet and a draft choice or even maybe a rozier or young where we have rj--tp

The Celtics have a two 2 year players on their roster and three rookies on their roster. They could be adding as many as 3 more rookie first round picks this off season.

The absolute last thing the Celtics need to do is trade for another young player to develop. The Celtics probably need to trade some of their picks and young players for a superstar and/or playoff hardened vets.

If we were to try and trade for a young gun now I'd agree with you. But lets say that we trade for someone like Bradley Beal or Andre Drummond. I know its unrealistic but what I'm getting at is a young star. Perhaps Noel or Okafor... At that point do we say "We're ready to contend" or do we look to keep building our young team and improve year on year until we can make that leap internally? If it's the latter then it would make sense to turn some of our lesser picks into a couple of high upside guys from around the league.
