Should we trade the Nets pick now?

Having read a  number of threads it got me thinking. When is the best time to trade the Nets pick to get maximum value? If we trade it any at all...

Currently it seems to be consensus thinking that the Nets pick will be a top 3 pick, but I'm not sold.  And if this is the thinking now across the league shouldn't we move now to maximize value? I honestly don't think the pick will be as high as expected as many teams seem a lot worse than the nets.

Honestly I don't want us to be left holding the bag, if the nets perform better than expected.  I would take a package now to get noel or beal.

There is no such thing as a guaranteed top 3 pick, only top 4.  The Nets pick will likely be for a top 7 guy.  The huge advantage of that is you could potentially get a really good player for like $1 million a year, then you get advantages to resign that player above the cap.  So it's not just "is the rookie better than the vet we could trade it for," but "are they a more efficient use of the cap?"

There are plenty of players I would trade the pick for, I just don't think they're available.  Beal would be worth trading for even though he's an expiring, but he could walk.  We don't really need a guard right now, anyway.

So I'd trade it for the right piece, but I just don't know what we could get that would be worth it.

You only trade the pick if you get fair value. There are very few guys in the league who would represent fair value.

Well who are you getting for the pick? Noel or Beal? No thanks that's bad value IMO. I highly doubt we trade it because I doubt any all-star players will be available to trade for.
