I don't know which part is funnier to me - the suggestion that we sign Brook Lopez to a max contract, or the suggestion that he is improving as a player.

* His field goal percentage is a career low
* His turnovers Per 36 are the highest since 2009/10
* His scoring per 36 is the lowest it's been since 2010/11
* His rebounding (8.7 Per 36) is still a terrible joke for a 7'1" / 260 / 7'5" wingspan center.

In fact There are two point guards who are averaging within 2 RPG of matching Lopez' production on the boards - Rondo (7.1 Per 36) and Westbrook (7.4 Per 36).

I forgive mediocre rebounding numbers when it's bigs who lack great legnth / height (e.g. Bass, Milsap, Horford, Olynyk) or bigs who lack strength...but Brook Lopes is one of the biggest, strongest and longest bigs in the entire league.  His career rebounding numbers are an embarrassment.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
Should the blog's mgmt set up a review process before posting 'Transaction Ideas'? Because this seasons day to day has reached a new low -- at both extremes.

Eh, they are ideas - not everybody is going to agree. Perhaps the thread title should be changed to, 'should we trade for Brook Lopez?', but if there is an idea that doesn't interest you, it is probably best not to click on it at all.

So you respond to my suggestion that we have a traffic cop by acting like a traffic cop... telling me we shouldn't have a traffic cop?

Fact is the quality of ideas has gotten ridiculously bad. If you have a problem with me calling that out, take your own advice and read something else.

You seem to have been a bit critical lately - I am just saying let it go; it's just a blog where people are free to express themselves. It is a great site, both the front page and the threads, and people shouldn't need to feel embarrassed / offended by their ideas. There are more constructive ways to respond or it's easy just not to say anything at all.

'The fact is' I've been a bit critical since 2006 when I started here. As far as I'm concerned, this blog has a history of quality I care about. Bad ideas deserve being called out -- think before you hit 'new topic'.

Don't like it? Doesn't bother me. To quote Jeremy Grey, quit crying like a little girl.

  • A true Celtic plays with heart.
Usually when people criticize my post or resort to name calling, I usually just ignore it.

I think OP has followed suit.

I mean honestly I couldn't care that much if someone disagreed with me. Its a blog, everyone is going to have different opinions.

As for Lopez, no thanks.

This guy is so overrated. I don't know why we even want this guy on our team. Sure, he's great offensively, probably a top 3 offensive 5 in the league, but as someone posted, his rebounding numbers are low. While his blocks are definitely more prominent this year, his FG% is also at an all-time low, and Lopez doesn't seem like a vocal leader.
