Here's a look at who shows up on the BRef advanced stats leader board (http://www.basketball-reference.com/leagues/NBA_2016_leaders.html?lid=header_leaders):

Offensive Rebound Pct.     Sully 8th
Defensive Rebound Pct.    Sully 16th
Total Rebound Pct.           Sully 9th
Assist Pct.                         IT 9th
Steal Pct.                        JCrowder 1st,
                                      Marcus 13th
Usage                             IT 13th
Defensive Rating              Sully 4th
(KO would be 5th if he had enough minutes to qualify)
                                      JCrowder 7th
                                      AmirJ 12th
DWinShares                     JCrowder 11th
WinShares/48                  Sully 16th
BPM                                Sully 7th
                                      JCrowder 19th
OBPM                              IT 9th
DBPM                              Sully 6th
                                      AmirJ 7th
                                      JCrowder 8th

Nice to see such depth, with 5 different guys showing up on the leader board.  Only IT on the offensive side, which is not surprising given our stellar team defensive ranking and average team offensive ranking.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
We are a few efficient scorers away from being a serious threat in the 2nd round of the playoffs vs everyone but the Cavs in the East.
The great thing is, this is exactly why Danny brought Crowder in and re-signed Bradley, snapping up Amir etc..
If we build a great defense, the great offensive players will look at us far more seriously as a playing destination.
It also makes our players so much more valuable in a trade. Kelly Olynyk is a completely different player than we've ever seen because of his improvement on defense.

If they stay with Amir in the starting line up I think our defensive numbers may even slightly improve- it's early though.

Can you imagine how good our D would be if we'd managed to snag Justise Winslow on draft night? We'd be a walking nightmare.

Defense is the key component for Brad Stevens and Ainge and it's the addition of Crowder, Amir and attempts to get defensive warriors like Winslow that clearly highlight this long term plan. ....Give the opposing team low percentage shots, and get more shots than your opponents and you don't need to shoot amazing percentages.

TP for the stats.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.
