What's more likely for Nets. ..over 24 wins or under?

They're struggling early, but 24 wins or over 24 is pretty likely. They will win 1 in every 3 games.

I don't think they're good enough to win 1 in every 3 games.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
71 games left.
They are 2 wins 9 losses.
They must win 1 in every 3 games to reach 24 wins.

Are they more or less likely to get there?
There current record suggests they'll win 14 games total.
If we give them a 5 win leeway that's 19 wins.
And Lopez hasn't missed any games yet.

Thoughts?
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

They'll likely win 2 in a row at some point. But I think 25 wins is too much. 20 wins is a good estimate.

I'm expecting somewhere around 25 if Lopez stays healthy. If he goes down with more than half the season left, they'll be in a dogfight with Philly for the worst record (15-20 wins).

I promised myself I wouldn't get too greedy about the Nets.  Although I'm mad at the Hawks and the Rockets for losing to the Nets, I'm very happy with the 2 and 9 start.

If they finish in the bottom five in the league by year's end, I'll be happy.  Finishing lower than that, would be icing for me.

No, I don't think so.

I'm also not wanting to get too greedy...I initially said they would have the 8th worst record.

But they're worse than I thought.  If the pick is anywhere in the bottom 5...I'll be cool with it.

they're going to be in a 3-way 'competition' for worst record with LA and Philly this year.  the way each of them are looking, 20 wins may be a stretch for any of them

I don't see any way they break 25.

Things will change as teams will decide to Tank when their playoff dreams do not materialize.
the Nets will not tank.

They can. NBA teams can quickly win a few in a row. And some teams will tank later in the year. Also some teams may be caught sleeping or off a back to back kind of deal. Nets can still get 30 wins.

My hope is they realize that there is nothing they can do and ship out Johnson, Young and Lopez for expiring deals/draft picks so they can stink worse now. Those guys have some value but with some heavy contracts. They could work out some 3 way trades if needed to do some moving. If not I wouldn’t hope anyone got hurt(seriously) but if anyone did I wouldn’t shed a tear for them. Lets al just hope the 76'ers start getting some wins here or there.

They probably can.  We need Lopez or Young to go out with an injury for a while.

If they're competitive this early in the season, they'll definitely go on some runs against listless teams intent on tanking later in the season.

Yes. I have them with 25 ABLE* wins. It's not a matter of getting greedy with that draft pick (I am.) or worrying about jinxing the team (I do. Yes, I know that's not the way the world works. Bear with me.). They've just gotten too close in too many games to write them off as much as I did earlier this year. I don't care if they can't close, they took Golden State to overtime and almost knocked off an unstoppable Cousins. They have four games against Philly and who knows who will be resting starters at the end of the year?

I would be really surprised if they keep Joe Johnson throughout the season. It seems like it is kind of unpleasant for both sides if he does. He is 35 years old and probably has a max of two seasons left playing. Why not let him go to a team that at least has a chance of making some noise in the playoffs. While I realize his contract is a monstrosity, it is expiring and the further it gets in the season, the less expensive it is.

His presence on the roster also decreases the amount of minutes available for their really only legit prospect in RHJ. If they could even get a change of scenery young guy and another expiring for him, that would be a good trade. Failing that, they would probably buy him out. Let us remember that this is not a KG in minnesota situation where he has played their for close to 10 years and wants to own a state in the franchise upon retirement. Johnson is the consummate professional so I can't ever picture him demanding a trade but he is from Arkansas, went to school in Arkansas and has no ties that I can think of to Brooklyn. If anything him, going back to Atlanta makes some sense.
