It seems like every play in the half court starts with Smart giving the ball up to David Lee as soon as he crosses halfcourt. After that, the idea to let David dissect the defense while AB runs off of weak side screens, just isn't working. The defense is just playing off on Lee since he can't shoot, and you've essentially stopped all ball-movement, especially since AB isn't shooting great.

I think we've gotten to the point where we give all the keys to the offense to Marcus. The first team offense is so bad, what's the risk? It can't get any worse. Frankly, just let Marcus attack the basket and figure out which decisions to make. Honestly, I would rather see him turn the ball over on a high risk/reward pass or miss a shot while attacking the basket... than seeing this first team offense run the clock down to 5 seconds with no hint of an open shot.

Even at the end of the game, we lined up in different formation that he hadn't seen and he called out our play before I got the ball. I heard him calling it out. -John Wall on Brad Stevens
