Jefferson played pretty well in Dallas last year and has looked pretty good in the pre-season.  I think Thompson gives you a bit of what Battier does defensively (clearly not offensively).  And they like Harris.  He is probably still a year away from being a meaningful contributor, but will give them minutes during the season.  Obviously Smith or Shump has decent size and one of them is coming off the bench.  Come playoff time when you crunch rotations and minutes, the Cavs will be fine.

Question are the Cavs your second favorite team?   I don't have a second favorite team, I am all C's.   But I think this is a rosy outlook, I know you  have access to get Sportstime Ohio and the CAVs games because we live in the same town.  I am just curious.

All my co-workers are big Cavs fans so I do follow them somewhat.  I don't believe my outlook is really any rosier than most.  The Cavs have an excellent starting five and a deep bench.  The Spurs and possibly the Warriors and Thunder are really the only teams that would have a shot in a 7 game series with them assuming the Cavs are healthy.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

I really don't the Cavs are that great.  Bron - Love - Irving is an impressive trio in theory, and they've got some nice role players around them.

Still, I don't think they're clearly better than the Warriors, Clips, Spurs, Rockets, or Thunder, and in a seven game series I think that some bad luck and a few injuries could result in a loss to the Grizzlies or even the Bulls.

The Cavs are the "title favorite" only because they have very little competition in their own conference.  They probably will only have to beat one contender to win a championship.  That's a huge advantage.
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

They beat the Bulls last year without Love and Smith being suspended 2 games.  I don't see the Bulls as any sort of threat at all.  The Heat and Wizards if everything goes their way and the Cavs have some injury concerns, maybe could beat the Cavs, but with a healthy James I'd still pick Cleveland in those series.

The Clips and Rockets have no benches and don't match up very well with Cleveland (though Pierce and Smith will help the Clips).  Neither can really guard James and frankly even guarding Love would be a problem for both teams.

Spurs, Warriors, and Thunder would be interesting series with the Cavs (assuming both teams are generally healthy).  I think they all match up very well and would love to see them go at it.

Thompson isn't a great all around player but he might be the best offensive rebounder in the league and was dominant on the glass in the playoffs last year. Plus he's a versatile defender and only 24. In 2 years, this deal will look fine.
