IT, Lee, Amir are the only players with legit star potential (with Lee actually the only one with all-star on his resume). Then throw in Smart, Sully, AB and maybe Crowder as legit rotation players (maybe Turner too but i know not a lot of folks here are high on him).  That's it, so yes I would say it's a good thing they have IT.

I think ever since 2011-2012ish Danny has been focusing on keeping fans in the seats during the post Big-3 era.

I think that was a huge motivator behind the Perk for Green trade.  Might even have something to do with the Jordan Crawford acquisition out of left field.  He needs exciting players to keep the Celtics hype alive.  IT is another one of those exciting players.
