Mickey plus everyone with a guaranteed contract except Jones.

If Young  yes, but it seems they like him and were expecting him to be ready this year.
If Young does make the roster who goes?  Can they even get a contract with Mickey?

If Young is in Maine, that means we would have 16 rostered players for 15 spots.  Accordingly, there will very likely be another trade.  However, if for some reason there's not, it's a camp battle between Young and PJ3 for the last roster spot, with an outside shot of Sullinger being in trouble if he shows up injured and/or completely out of shape (I don't think that will happen, but he's being paid the least at the position with the most bodies, so it's not impossible since someone has to go.) I know this forum doesn't like Turner, but he did everything asked of him last year and fills a role that is currently still needed, so he's in no danger whatsoever.  Whoever loses the camp battle is released, because since the OP said no trades, there is no other choice.

Yes you are right. Putting  a guy  in the D league does not reduce the roster limit of 15.
So more difficult.
Who gets cut? (as of today )
Thornton, Babb seem to be easy. The last one?
It may be Young or Mickey(especially if he haggles over contract)

But it almost seems there has to be a trade to reduce the roster without losing current value.

But it almost seems there has to be a trade to reduce the roster without losing current value.

It will not be Mickey, unless he completely blows camp, which would be surprising.  While management may be frustrated by his contract, jettisoning him would be cutting off the nose to spite the face.  If he signs a 1-year tender this year, he's still a restricted free agent next year, so you see what he does this year and what he's worth next season.  If another team breaks the bank for him, that's life, but if another team is willing to break the bank for him, that means he's too good to cut. The C's like him a lot, and he's clearly ahead of Young.  The C's were given most or all of PJ3's salary by OKC in addition to a pick, so they lose nothing by cutting him if he comes to camp and can't make the team.  Earlier this week he essentially had negative NBA trade value.  That's why I say either him or Young.

But again, by far the most likely see so is trade, even if it means dumping a guy for a second-rounder.
