Did you here how he said something like, "To me, the Celtics are like a Western Conference team."

I think he was talking about our three-point shooting scheme, but it still felt like huge compliment.

I can see it from that angle.

Just looking at the Eastern Conference playoffs, most of those games were slogs.  A lot of teams in the East play a relatively ugly style.  That's due to the lack of offensive talent and also a number of coaches that are about a decade behind the times in their offensive schemes.

I look at the Celts like a less talented, younger version of the Hawks.

You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

I find it really funny some of you guys still don't get what he's doing.

He just wants every asset possible.   He trades for a better player if he's available and he drafts BPA.

This season is going to be really interesting. With Olynyk and Amir, the Celtics will be capable of putting five 3-point shooters on the floor at a given time. Sullinger's 3-point shooting might be a failed experiment but he's still got consistent 18-foot range. If Smart can translate his aggressiveness from the summer league into League play, he'll have some open lanes or some open shooters. Then it's just a matter of making shots.

Jerebko and Amir will be the bigs in at the end of the game I wager.  Maybe Amir and Olynyk some.   Sully can't play D and I do not think CBS trusts him.  Any thing Sully gives you on offense he kills you on defense.  The others guys have more give than take.  I honestly hope we deal Sully for a guy who plays on both ends.

Thats why I'm happy the Cs skipped the Orlando Summer League.  The better comp is in the west and in front of a big time crowd.

If I recall correctly they said that about the Celtics and the Sixers.  They were talking about their faster pace of play than most East teams.

I think you're underrating Sully on defense. He doesn't block shots or get steals but he's a wide body who stays in front of people. I remember the game at home against Sacramento last season, he was the only one on the team who could keep Cousins in front of him. Zeller got absolutely demolished.

I wouldn't bet against Amir and Jerebko finishing games. There are only a handful of teams left in the NBA that would have too many bigs to make that a problem defensively and offensively, we could put a hell of a shooting team on the floor.
