I like him, but he has a long way to go. You have to remember this team is cramped with guards. It's going to be hard to develop. The d-league does nothing I think. The best way to develop is actually playing against inferior competition, but that his not how BS goes about things, which I completely disagree with. If he had done so with Young, we might not be seeing the pile of crap we are now.

I was not high on Hunter pre-draft because everything I read about him was that he was a good shooter that didn't shoot well. It reminded me of the scene in Moneyball when the scouts really like this kid, talking him up and Brad Pitt says something like "if he's such a good hitter why doesn't he hit?"

He shot poorly in two of the three summer league games too. I'm waiting for a larger sample size to convince me either way, but I always pull for Celtics players so I'm on board in terms of being hopeful.

I am confused about this. I thought the scouting reports on him where that he was a very strong shooter. Can someone clarify?

I don't understand the statement "he's a very good shooter that can't shoot well." That literally makes no sense.

He shot 30% from 3PT line in his final college year yet everyone talks him up like he is a really good shooter. I think that's his point. Anyway, I wouldn't go that far. He did shoot 40% from 3PT in the previous year so it seems like he is streaky. He slumped in his final year, but he's young. He's still working through the kinks with his form I guess. He already stated that he had some issues with the increased defensive attention (I think), and his follow through was off, which he didn't notice until after the season ended.

He might eventually be an impact player but for now he needs to get stronger and learn how to play man defense. I would be surprised if he didn't start the season in the d-league.

How in the heck can you send the best shooter on the team to the D-league? not happening. Didnt you see the guys on the bench, they already know it, everytime he pulls up they stand. He's gonna get so many open looks and thrive. He can make open shots, thats what separates him from 90% of nba players.

Where was James Young most of last year?
James Young didn't start the season in d league. And he was a terrible shooter last year.
CB Mock Deadline - Minnesota Timberwolves
Kemba Walker / Tyus Jones / Aaron Brooks
Jimmy Butler / Jamal Crawford / Treveon Graham
Rodney Hood / Nic Batum / Marcus Georges Hunt
Taj Gibson / Nemanja Bjelica / Jonas Jerebko
KAT / Derrick Favors / Cole Aldrich
Picks - 2018 CHA 1st (Lotto protected), none out

His shot selection is awful. Most likely reason he never played for a power conference. There is a reason he dropped to 28th and it wasn't a Jimmy Butler situation. He's going to be able to carve a niche somewhere doing something but he's probably a solid rotation player on a non contender at some point.

The D-League season starts a few weeks after the NBA season, so technically any Celtic sent to Maine doesn't start the season in the D-League.

How may I ask... Is his shot awful? Lol. The kid has one of the best strokes I've seen , same can be said for young, but hunters actually falls.

He reportedly turned down offers from Iowa, Virginia Tech, and Wake Forest.  Bryce Drew apparently convinced him that playing for his father would be a great experience.  So, the likely reason he never played fore a power conference is because he chose not to.

I thought you were all about the young-ins.
