It was a good podcast. God I miss Simmons, but at least Rusillo closed with what Simmons would have opened with, and that is Boston Celtics basketball.
They talked about Ainge dealing with smarter executives than ever before, and that these executives are weary of dealing with Ainge because he's outsmarted so many before, they don't want to be another victim of Ainge. Then they made the comparison to Jerry West who use to complain about how nobody wanted to deal with him after a while out of fear of being fleeced.
As far as the current state of affairs, they suggested that the Celtics are stuck in stagnation because they are drafting from the middle. But what they didn't talk about is the fact the Nets are a mess and that they could do the losing for the Celtics. That it's a likely scenario that they could achieve high draft picks without losing. So it was very doom and gloom and negative.
