I got to the point where i dont even hate the knicks..I just pity them. And then Phil Jackson and Derek fisher, two of my most hated basketball figures of all time, joined the sham of an organization. Now i cant wait to see them screw up in the draft once again. With talks of them moving down we may have the pleasure of once again see New York pass on all star talent to take Frank Kaminsky..lets take a look at their atrocious draft history since the year 2000....
2000- You cant really blame the Knicks for taking Donnell Harvey with the 22nd pick considering it was the most horrendous draft in history. They didnt really pass on anyone noteworthy. Michael Redd was taken 43rd but that was a feak occurence.
20001- NYK took Michael Wright 39th and Eric Chenowith 43rd in an underwhelming draft depth wise.
2002- The Knicks made a great decision taking Nene 7th but a bad decision in trading him to the Nuggets where he would flourish for years. They also missed on rookie of the year Amare Stoudemire who went 9th. They ended up getting him 8 years later but at the price of over 100 million. And we all know how that ended, but thats a story for another day.
2003- In one of the best drafts ever New York took Michael Sweetney, who ate himself out of the league. In the 2nd round they had the 30th and 39th and took two euros who maybe played 10 games combined in the NBA. Players like Mo Williams and Kyle Korver were still on the board.
2004- May have been there best draft so far. They snagged Trevor Ariza with the 44th pick.
2005- It was an okay draft for the Knicks. They took Channing frye 8th and got an absolute steal in David Lee 30th. The bad news was they couldnt hold on to Lee and took Dijon Thompson 54th while Amir Johnson and Marcin Gortat were there for the taking.
2006- After a pretty good draft in 05 the Knicks went back to their old ways, taking Renaldo Balkman 20th with Rondo and Lowry taken soon after. Yikes.
2007- Not horrible. They got Wilson Chandler 23rd.
2008- Danilo Gallinari was an okay pickup for NYK, as he was the center piece for the Carmelo Anthony. But im sure if they could do it over they would have taken Eric Gordon (7th) Brook Lopez (10th) or Roy Hibbert (17th)
2009- Jordan Hill was taken with the 8th pick with Derozan, Jennings, Holiday, and Lawson still available.
2010- Due to the Carmelo trade, New york only had two second rounders where they picked Andy Rautins and Landry Fields back to back. The pick after was Lance Stephenson...
2011- Iman Shumpert went to the big apple with the 17th pick. The fact that Tobias Harris, Kenneth Faried and Jimmy Butler were still on the board has to sting still.
2012- The only pick the Knicks had was the 48th which was smartly used to take Kostas Papanikoloua, which is pretty good value for so late in the draft. But now hes on the Rockets somehow.
2013- Tim Hardaway was taken by new york with the 24th pick. Im sure they wish they took Rudy Gobert, who was taken 3 spots below.
2014- To early to judge but Cleanthony Early and Thanasis Antetokounmpo dont seem like prizes.
Fact: No other team has been this bad at drafting for this long. Now theres talks of them passing on Mudiay, Porzingiz, Winslow, and other potentially really good players to take a guy named Frank the Tank. Its almost a joke at this point. Just be grateful that you were born a Celtics fan and not a knicks fan. That would really suck.
