I know this kid has been getting hyped but I just don't know what to make of him.  will he be:
- a better-defending Dirk?
- a better-defending KO
- second-coming of Andrea Bargnani?
- wishing he were Andrea Bargnani?
- wishing he were KO?
- wishing he wasn't out of the league after his rookie contract?

He has great potential for his position, great shooter, great bounce. He is fundamentally sound, has the mindset to play hard. He is going to be a great player, just needs a year or two to fill into his body. If any Euro is going to be a bust its Hezonja, if he can't crack the rotation in Barcelona how is he going to play over in the states.

A Bargnani who will rebound and plays adequate defense?

Post game well ahead of a young Bargnani. Maybe a bit shot-creation skills. Perhaps More of a #2 scoring than a #3 (Bargs). That would be pretty valuable.

Thank you.
I really do not know what's the story with the Croatian. IMO he probably deserves a top-ten pick but not as high as 7.

I remember reading somewhere that due to rumors of Hezonja pulling out of this year's draft if he wasn't picked in the top 10, Barcelona didn't play him as many minutes in hopes that more GM's would have this attitude and be afraid to take him top 10 based off limited minutes. That way Barcelona could keep him for another season. I'll try to find that article and post it when I do.

One thing that really bothers me about Porzingis is the lack of assists.

21.4 minutes per game. Only 0.4 assists per game. 1.3 turnovers per game.

in all likelihood, porzingis will wind up being porzingis. then later in life cbers can say "play x is just like porzinis!"  ;D
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

if that's what he turns out to be, that's not too bad.

I think it could very well work out that Towns/Okafor/Russell got 1-2-3 and Porzingis is there for the Knicks.  I don't think they will want a project, they need some real players to put around Melo now.  I think this could result in a big trade for someone and it wouldn't hurt my feelings if it was the Celtics (assuming they don't give up the farm which Ainge does not tend to do).

I have no idea how good he really is but all the ingredients seem to be there; length, athleticism, skills, youth, attitude.  All drafting is a roll of the dice but this seems like a pretty good gamble all things considered.

At 4, I'm taking Winslow, Mudiay, Porzi, or WTCS. I think all except Mudiay and Porzi will be there at 6. So, if I'm Danny, the only reason I'd go for the fourth pick is for Mudiay or Porzi, neither of which I'm particularly high on. I think trading for the (presumably) less expensive sixth pick is a better idea if we can get Sacramento on board. Both WTCS and Justise will be available at 6. We can't go wrong!
My biases, in order of fervor:
Pro:
Smart, Brown, Hayward, Tatum, Kemba, Grant Williams, Sleepy Williams, Edwards!

Anti:
Kanter, Semi, Theis, Poierier

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Rollie I'm not sure why you think he was on a bust o meter?
I've watched him on draftexpress since he was 17 yrs old and that wide frame, beautiful stroke and footwork and epic length has got NBA star all over him.

He's like a better coordinated version of Bargani AND he's more athletic,  longer and shoots better. His frame is also deceivingly large and he should be able to out on some serious muscle.
He's got great footwork so the hope is that he can become a defensive force too as a weakside rim protector.

FYI he's from Latvia not Lithuania.
Anyway I've always loved him and I think he's going to be an All Star.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.
