You would be hard pressed to find three prospects less suited to Brad Stevens' system than Oubre, Wood and Mickey. All three have little feel for the game, are poor passers, and worse yet, have inconsistent motors. Oubre and Wood proved little in their freshman years except that they were unready to compete at the college level, let alone the NBA. Both of them would have better served with another year of college ball. Mickey is an outstanding shot blocker at the collegiate level, but his offensive skills are very limited, and he's a black hole once he gets his hands on the ball.
For what it's worth, here's who I like:
16: Justin Anderson, SF, Virginia
28: Richaun Holmes, PF, Bowling Green
33: Pat Connaughton, SG, Notre Dame
45: Cedi Osman (Euro Stash)
Anderson, Holmes and Connaughton play different positions, but have several characteristics in common. They're all high energy players with outstanding athleticism, a variety of offensive and defensive skils, and a good feel for the game. I am certain Coach Stevens would prefer having mature prospects like these to work with, rather than babies who have to be nursed along for 3 or 4 years. The James Young experiment last year shows what you're likely to get from a raw college freshman ... the last thing the Celtics need is three more of the same.
