Maybe Paul Millsap?s time in a Jazz uniform hasn?t come to an end. Spencer Checketts, son of former Jazz president Dave Checketts and radio show host for team-owned radio station 1280 AM The Zone, reported on Twitter on Friday that the Jazz ?will actively pursue? the former Jazzman in free agency. Spencer Checketts: Just caught wind that the Jazz will actively pursue Hawks UFA PF Paul Millsap this off-season.

Free Agency, Paul Millsap, Atlanta Hawks, Utah Jazz

does this means favors is available, or Millsap at sf or 6th man?

If we could get Favors I would definitely go for it. I think there were rumors that the Jazz were trying to trade him last summer. Not sure if there's any substance behind that though.

I think it would make sense for the Jazz to try to sign Millsap and if he does sign, start him and Gobert and have Favors back up both of them, with an occasional lineup with all 3 of them. However if the Jazz rush to move Favors I would jump at that chance.

It doesn't make sense to go for a 30 year old Millsap when you have a young front court of Gobert and Favors who both have allstar potential. Plus Favors has a respectable mid range game and has been working to extend it to the 3 pt line.
They could use millsap as a backup but he will want to much money and a bigger role

This makes no sense to me unless they move Favors. Gobert is their future at the 5 and I don't see Favors coming off the bench.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

No. Favors and Milsap frontcourt with Gobert and im guessing lyles(imo who they will draft) off the bench

Milsap will help the Jazz program move fwd bringing in knowledge/experience with playing under budz

I don't know, Favors is a fine young player that still has plenty of upside but he also has those Jeff Green sleepy eyes. One of those guys that can be your best player but probably shouldn't be viewed as the team leader. Millsap on the other hand would make an excellent team captain to guide the young roster.

It's possible they would welcome the chance to cash Favors in for a boat load of assets and run with a future of Gobert/Millsap.

If they strike out on Millsap maybe we could sell them on Sullinger. He has that Jazz undersized rebounding post up PF game that Utah has historically sought out and he is practically brothers with Trey Burke.

I'd add whatever would be needed to facilitate a deal centered around Favors for Sully(Or Olynyk for that matter who they were really high on during the draft process)

Wonder if they still have hope on Exum. Kid is young, but really struggled last season. Thought he would do much better.

Yes Millsap would make a great team captain but he wants to go to a winning team and the Jazz are far from that.
They are still in mid rebuild and they have great young pieces that should grow together even if they decided to go for Playoffs next season with millsap I dont think they have a chance to make it.
Gobert is still too young and lacks game changing offensive skill, I do think that he has the potential to be a great player but 1 offseason isn't gonna change much plus they need decide how they're gonna handle their guard rotation

Millsap probably doesn't want to go back to live in Utah after being in ATL the last few years.

If they got Olynyk for Favors (and we put at Favors at center next to Sully),

Exum/Burke
Burks/Hood
Hayward/[Hood]
Olynyk/Myles Turner
Gobert/[Turner]

could be extremely dangerous.

Draft: 8 first rounders in next 5 years.

Normally I'd agree that a player will search out a winner at this stage of his career but the Jazz are the team that that drafted and developed him. If he's looking for a winner he probably wont find a better situation than Atlanta and of the 2 I think he's probably pick the Jazz at this point and be a big fish in a small pond.

The Jazz were also one of the best teams post all star break, posting the number 1 defensive rating . Don't think they need Gobert to rapidly develop offensively to take the next step especially if they stick Millsap next to him. He can just continue to be a defensive juggernaut and automatic finisher.

That's how I see it Olynyk fits that roster like a glove. It'd probably take a few of our picks so you could throw in add one of the great mid round talents in this draft to that rotation. Jerian Grant. Kelly Oubre. Sam Dekker. Maybe Montrezl Harrel since that roster might be a bit too finesse(read: soft) up front.

I think it would only take Olynyk + 28 but they could still add Justin Anderson with 28 and have an extremely versatile group of wings.
