Boston won't be bringing in 2 top FA like Lebron and Bosh anytime soon. I think we would be lucky to even get one. But if we can catch lightning in a bottle with just one guy, I think we would be set. Here's the idea.

1. Sign Marc Gasol. He is a great defender, and is also a very good passer and CAN SHOOT FREE THROWS. Would fit well into our offense. He probably won't be leaving Memphis anytime soon, but it's all up to him. As an unrestricted FA, Memphis is at his mercy. As much as I like Jimmy Butler and Kawaii Leonard, their teams aren't going to let them walk away. If Gasol decides he likes Stevens and the young talent the celtics have, he could be the man on an up and coming team in the weak east.

2. Trade KO+#16+Dallas 1st to Detroit for #8. Detroit gets a perfect fit in KO alongside Drummond, only moves down 8 spots, and picks up a future first that could end up being very valuable. We take Stanley Johnson with the #8 pick. Becomes the franchise SF, and gives us another fierce defender to groom alongside smart.

3. Resign Crowder. Another fierce defender that can be groomed alongside Smart and Johnson, and a guy I think can really develop into a Draymond Green type. Right now he's an energy guy off the bench, but I think he can be a starter in this league.

4. Resign Gigi. Gives us a high character guy and fan favorite. A very good shooter that can be used in specific situations and fills up our last roster spot, at the veterans minimum.

5. #28. Draft Robert Upshaw. Obviously if his heart problem turns out to be serious, then he won't be playing professional basketball (like Isaiah Austin last year). I hope it isn't serious, and is just enough to scare some of the teams ahead of us so they don't take him.

6. #33. Draft Jordan Mickey. A terrific shot blocker and defender, who can be added for depth at PF.

7. #45. Draft a Euro. We can stash a prospect and not take up another roster spot.

Lineup:
Smart/IT/Pressey
AB/Young/Gigi
Johnson/Turner/Wallace
Sully/Crowder/Mickey
Gasol/Zeller/Upshaw

What do you guys think? Too much or too little for Detroit? Realistic?
CB Mock Deadline - Minnesota Timberwolves
Kemba Walker / Tyus Jones / Aaron Brooks
Jimmy Butler / Jamal Crawford / Treveon Graham
Rodney Hood / Nic Batum / Marcus Georges Hunt
Taj Gibson / Nemanja Bjelica / Jonas Jerebko
KAT / Derrick Favors / Cole Aldrich
Picks - 2018 CHA 1st (Lotto protected), none out

The gasol thing is obviously the tricky part here and id frankly be shocked of he signs here. However, after him the rest of your proposal is more than realistic.

I think you overpay for #8 but I love Stanley johnson.

I wouldn't take Upshaw before 45

I love Mickey at 33

Id like to resign crowder, but don't see him as a starter

Gigi is a non factor for me

My realistic unrealistic would be:

Sign Aldridge or love
Sign robin Lopez biyombo or trade for Noah or hibbert
Trade KO/Sully and 16 for 8 take Johnson

Another option would be to sign Monroe as a center and follow it up with a trade for Gibson
Then once again move KO/sully and a first for Stanley j

Rosters
Smart IT4
Bradley crowder young
Turner Johnson crowder
Gibson KO crowder
Monroe Zeller

Smart IT4
Bradley young
Turner crowder Johnson
Love/Aldridge sully
Biyombo/Noah/hibbert/Lopez Zeller

I think there are enough backup plans in there that one could work

At least one of the descriptor words in the post title is accurate.

I'm a big Wendigo fan.  He's gonna stay in Memphis.

I could see him coming here but we'd need to add another big piece first

The problem is, it is really hard to add that piece while maintaining max room

Maybe Monroe or Tobias Harris then we'd have to ship out Wallace

Or we could add a milsap or an Aldridge or love then ship out Kelly ET and I think it's close

I bet heat fans didn't think Bosh would sign with them let alone Lebron..

Ultimate center lineup. We could have Noah run point, zeller at the 2, lopez defending Lebron, Biiyambo making Bosh cry, and Hibbert standing under the rim as the human redwood tree.

Not 1, not 2, not 3, not 4... but FIVE centers.  ;D
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

I meant we would have 1 of the 4.
and then Zeller.

Not all 5. ;D

So, on the Celtics, who is the Dwyane Wade to talk Gasol into considering signing here, and who is the Pat Riley to seal the deal?
