People will probably rip me for this, but I'd be willing to do a deal with Brooklyn to land Deron Williams and Mason Plumlee.

Plumlee is a very good defensive center and the type of rim protector we need.

DWill would only be on the books for the next two seasons and he may even opt out after next season.

I'd be willing to give the Nets a draft pick for that.

I was trying to think of something along these lines.

The Nets picks are way more valuable to them than anyone else because they allow them to tank, but Brooklyn really doesnt have many assets.

I was thinking something like Bogdanovich, Plumlee, 29 and  Thad young for GWallace and Nets 2016. Then we get an immediate SF upgrade and some decent youngish talent and they can tank.

It gives us so many redundancies with our younger guys that it becomes much easier to trade a Tyler Zeller or an Avery Bradley to go after higher level talent or established guys like Gibson or Noah.

Ultimately I think its best to just keep the Nets picks and collect the lottery pick next year.

Now if we are sending them a 2017 or 2018 pick different story. Then I am much more willing to move that pick.

Bogdanovic and Thad Young are probably untouchable unless we give them that 2016 1st, and like you said, I'd rather not.

Except he really isn't.

Deron is still a decent player, but not for the money he costs.  Not even close.

Let them suck. The East will be better next season and they could tank hard.

I remember how many people wanted to make a trade with the Knicks the last two seasons for Amare. Consolidate some dreck into a single, mammoth contract for the price of a 1st rounder, or some such.

I always said, "Why would anyone want to give the Knicks a get out of jail free card? That Amare contract is a golden anchor that is keeping the Knicks in mediocrity/cap hell. Why help them out of that hole?"

The same can now be said for Deron Williams' contract. Why help the Nets get out of the mess they made, especially considering the Celtics have a vested interest in seeing the Nets flounder for the life of that contract?

I want to see us move up in the draft, but DA needs to hold on to those Nets picks. They are looking like they're really going to terrible next year and the years to come. The value on the picks keeps rising.

If the Celtics strike out on useful free agents, a Wallace for Johnson works for me.  Ask for a 2nd rounder or another chance to swap future 1sts.

Do not give them 1st rounders or cheap players with the chance to improve.  It only hurts the Celtics in the long run.

Plumlee isn't a defensive C at all. He'd hardly be better than Zeller in that regard. And he's never gonna be the kind of player he looked like for that month or two last year where he averaged a double-double. That's probably not gonna happen. You can find guys like Plumlee for much cheaper than a super-valuable Nets pick and Deron Williams' grossly over-inflated contract. That may be one of the worst 3 contracts in the NBA right next to Joe Johnson and Kobe. And Williams would never opt-out, even with the cap jump he will never earn another contract like that again, no where near that much money even if he has some type of miracle rejuvenation year.

I'm really starting to get the feeling Lopez is leaving them for Milwaukee this year, and even if Young comes back Thad Young, Johnson and Williams aren't getting that squad out of the bottom 8 teams. No way. We need to hold onto those picks for ALMOST anything.
