Good for the Pelicans.  Fire the mediocre coach before your young superstar is a year away from free agency and it's too late to really try to do something with a new, more competent head coach.
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

I think the media outrage is ridiculous.  Did they actually watch the Pelicans?  Yes they had injuries, but if you watched the team actually, especially on offense, there was just zero direction.  The offense was give Davis the ball midrange or lob it to the rim no matter what the defense is like.

I think people somehow are underrating how good Davis is.  He's so good on both sides of the floor.

It's cool if he is a great guy.  I appreciate that.  Doesn't mean he's a good coach though.  Maybe he's an assistant.

I don't know if this is true or not, but if the ownership actually said something along the lines of you, got to make the playoffs to keep your job and then he made the playoffs and they still fired him, well then they probably shouldn't have done that. I don't think he is a great coach either, but I think that may be the part that upsets people (if true).

I believe this was exactly the demand made, but I don't see many people bringing that line up with their outrage.  They just say "oh he made the Playoffs".

I mean, yeah, it was make the Playoffs or your fired.  But it wasn't make the Playoffs and you're totally safe either.

I think with Davis where he's at, the work the roster needs around him, good candidates on the market, you have to make the move now.  Don't waste time.  Davis is already ready.  He was like a top 3 player last year to me, considering his impact on both ends.  If you waste time he could leave and he is a lottery ticket New Orleans just has to hold on to.  Such an amazing player.

i almost have to wonder if they hadn't blown that 25 lead he would still have a job. Crazy to think one game can cost you your job. Just ask Grady Little.
