I have to admit I wanted to get a top pick and I'd deal with the losing. But being competitive and watching my team play in the playoffs is way more valuable. The taste is addictive I bet for players..... they want to compete and win. The experience Smart and the team is getting is worth way more than a chance to land a pick 4/5 spots closer to the number one. Short term and long term.
People out there that still wished we tank don't realize how important the post season is to attracting free agents. Just the fact alone that we are fighting these Cavs gives me a sense of pride in how hard these guys play. Now the whole nation and free agents see these guys play their butts off. And Lebron James saying how well coached the team is. With out making the playoffs no one sees the potential we have. Like some one said its time to fall in love with the Celtics. I can't wait to win one in Boston and give our players a taste of what it feel like to win against one of the very best on center stage!
It's frustrating to lose, but you are right. Sometimes you just have to take your lumps. Obviously we need to upgrade our personnel to compete. 1 Batman, two robins.
Things are too easy for opposing bigs against our interior. When your interior is getting dominated, people come off of their guy to help, then threes start falling.
Maybe LeBron's nice words about Stevens coaching will have nice free agents looking our way. But trying to build strictly through the draft is a major gamble, just ask Philly.
