Marcus Smart NBA comparison

I think the D Wade comparison could be feasible. They both listed at 6'4, 220 lbs but Smart is no way near the athlete Wade was coming out of college and i think Wade has a huge wingspan to compensate for his small stature at the 2 guard.

Wade averaged 16.2 ppg his rookie year; but played 34.9 mins on 13.1 attempts
Smart averaged 7.8 ppg so far; but on only 26.4 mins on 4.2 attempts plus Smart has had to operate within CBS team based system.

I still wish he would attack the basket more like he did in college, I think Smart could really open things up just like Parker for the Spurs.

I'm pretty excited to see Smart develop next year.  All NBA defense as a rookie, his offense needs some tweaking and catch up to speed development but a good pick by Ainge.

I suggest to some of you its not bad to be harsh towards one's abilities.

i think that smart has done a amazing job this year,with an injury that slowed his progress ,a circus of new players and trading of vets-even yesterday he toned his game down after his big night in oklahoma,the game has definitely slowed down for him,nice fingeroll to basket as he was in non agressive mode-marcus had been putting the team on his shoulders both ends with isiah gone, i have said it before isiah is the perfect mentor for marcus in teaching him driving contact in nba and change of pace-even turners game got better with isiah  around for a short time-players mimic or borrow what works and adapt it to their game----did turner make some nice moves yesterday from post up to using rim  and that jumper move he has -this guy was a steal lets see how next season goes and down the stretch-he rebounds,plays multiple positions gives defenses tough match ups and makes some of the most mysterious poor decisions ,just mind boggling stupid blunders-

I suggest to you to get off the Smart haterade that you enjoy so much.

Or perhaps I should just post some stats proving that you're wrong so that you can just categorically claim that stats don't matter. 

EDIT: Obviously you haven't been watching him the last month or two, because he's really picked up his penetration game. He's greatly increased his drive and kick/finishing ability and frequency since the beginning of the year.

dang, i was about to post a comprehensive stat comparisons of Smart vs. the guys'  you mentioned then my pc went off. 
anyway I kinda redid it, and here goes:
*(all of the stats below are from their rookie seasons).
Marcus Smart

poor fg% compared to the other guys. Might be because brad insisted him to shoot the 3 so much, i don't know.  I hope our kid focus on taking it to the basket soon.
vs. Chauncey Billups

Solid.
vs. Alvin Robertson

never saw this guy play, but career-wise he's solid.
vs. Tony Allen

not the same position as marcus . I also didn't know he shot the 3 ball  38.7% with his broken shot. o_o
vs. Joe Dumars

although not the same position as marcus, I see similarities from him and this bad boy.  Hope our kid doesn't turn out to be a sucky GM, though.
vs. Gary Payton

The Glove had a lackluster rookie campaign, shooting the 3ball at 7.7%. Goes to show that you can't predict a players career based on rookie stats. (why I still continue to post, we'll never know). Long story short, Gary Payton will continue his career to be one of the best two way point guards in NBA history.
vs Lindsey Hunter

slightly better than MS stat-wise.
vs. Bruce Bowen

This guy's an SF. to compare him to a PG is moot.
vs. Dwayne

This guy is better than Marcus when it comes to hurting people that's for sure.
heart, grit, leadership, and nut punching  aren't shown on these stats, but I'll leave you guys to discuss. 

Edit: gah, I couldn't get the stats to align I'm sorry. It turned out to be a jumbled mess so I left it out.
