Kevin Love and Marc Gasol would be pretty sweet with those defensive bulldogs.

I agree.

Here's hoping that JR Smith adds to the confusion in CLE and helps to send KLove here to BOS.

Then, we just have to coax Marc here...

Rather go after Draymond Green in off season as our PF.

He's been putting up some impressive numbers in GSW as of late, but I don't think that's sustainable.

Plus, he's a bit undersized, at 6'7".

If Danny is going to clean the table like he has, I'd rather go with decent size (KLove) at the PF, even if we give up some defensive intensity there. If we can get Marc, he will more than make up for KLove's deficiencies.

Marc is a defensive stalwart in MEM with ZBo as PF. He can work with KLove just fine :)

But just a pipe dream... Also Love is definitely 6'6 or 6'7... Green may score 12 pts and low rebounding numbers, but what he does defensively, going for loose balls, playing with heart. Kerr even admitted Green is a huge reason for their success.

Look at Rondo/Love at Fenway.

Love is DEFINITELY not 6'9 or 6'10..

Gasol is an even further pipe dream. Yes there is a 0.1% chance of Love choosing BOS over LBJ, the best player in the NBA, although KD/AD are already closely behind, if Ainge can bring in a good young Center or defensive anchor, and Love believes Smart/Young can become potential Allstars. Love is still 26, so by the time, Love reaches his apex/prime, Smart/Young will be still not be anywhere near their prime, and can possibly become the go to guys while Love is a 2nd or 3rd best option offensively.

I wanted Love, because Rondo/Love is a playoff 3-4 seed in the East, and just need 1-2 pieces to contend.

But Love is very weak defensively, and is a huge reason for why they lose so many close games. Hes allowing an astounding 58.1% near the rim. Even with Varejao on the floor, you would need a Tyson Chandler/Bogut or Sanders type of guy to make up for him.

Personally? If DMC wants out, or is tired of the Kings organization, we end up at least with a top 7 pick, or move players/picks to move up to a top 3. I would throw our pick, 2 Nets pick, 2 future picks, Sully and Bradley, anyone else besides Smart/Young for DMC.

This is obviously just fantasy, but you have to admit that Love & Gasol would be a very potent frontcourt, Marc duzzitall and Kevin scores from anywhere. And these dudes in the topic shuts down anyone in perimeter.

Believe me, I was A HUGE advocate of going after Love, clearing cap space, then going for Gasol in FA. I thought a Big 3 of Rondo/Love/Gasol would be very hard to stop... Gasol works in the paint while Rondo gets a nice pass from a double, drives, and behind the back pass to a Love waiting at the top of the key.

Oh man, I already forgot about Rondo. That would´ve been such a nice team to watch.

Personally I would take Paul Millsap over Kevin Love, he is more interior oriented than k love, not has good of a shooter but is capable, but defense is much better. Look at what he does for the Altanta Hawks in comparison to what love is doing in cleveland.

But you wouldn´t need interior D from PF with Gasol.

A far fetched but plausible pipe dream lineup that I could watch for the next five years could be

Smart
Young
Crowder
Love
Gasol

Mine is Smart Young Crowder Draymond Green and Cousins. KO off bench hopefully, and bringing in vets/role players.

No reason for Gasol or Love to want to come to Boston in its current situation.  We have... NOBODY.  Boston has NEVER attracted big name free agents.  We will have a lot of cap space but who would want to come here?  If we could get a superstar, it would have a domino effect.  But we have to attract ONE guy first.

Also I like the idea of Smart/Crowder/Bradley in limited does just to frustrate the other team's offense, but then we'd have no offense either, LOL.  Need a mix of offensive players and defensive stoppers.  but we are still missing defensive stoppers at the 4/5 positions which are the most important pieces to fill.
