Does anyone else have high hopes for the deadline?
Nope. Not expecting any "fireworks" at trade deadline.

A smaller Tyler Zeller level acquisition is about all I am hoping for. I think big acquisitions via trades are extremely unlikely right now given how unattractive Boston's roster is after trading Rondo (if big star forcing way out of bad situation, why agree to leave just to come to another bad situation in Boston?). I think the draft offers the best chance for Boston to make a major addition to the squad. Free agency is 2nd best chance but that'll likely be grossly overpaying young talent in hopes he becomes a top star than getting one of the top FAs on the market.

I think trades for star talent are for later stage in the rebuilding process. When Ainge has more of foundation here to build around. Very difficult for Boston to attract & retain any star talent is desires in a trade given how bad the roster is.

Not with our assets, We might get something for Green.  I do not see us getting much for Bass.

I usually have high hopes for the trade deadline but then nothing (or very little) happens.

I'm going to try applying reverse psychology to myself this time around, and hope that by not hoping for much, something will in fact happen.  ;D

Patience is the game at this point.

Get (yet another) 1st rounder for Green and see if we can dump Wallace. Between Bass and Wright, get another incremental asset like a trade exception or a pick swap option or whatever.

7 extra 1st rounders, multiple trade exceptions, and $40M in cap room with some useful players like Smart, Young, Sullinger, Olynyk, Zeller is about as flexible as a franchise can possibly get, and it's at least a point where you can start pitching trade partners and star players with "look, we have more money, picks and young players combined than anyone else".

Let me start with this:
I'm a positive, glass half-full kind of person.  I believe that Wyc, Danny, and Brad know what they're doing.  They have a plan, multiple iterations of it, and they will work very hard to make the Celtics true contenders again.

So I have high hopes for the trade deadline, February 19, 2015, and I think that at the very least some solid steps can be made in the long journey back to contention; i.e. more asset gathering.

And in my wildest dreams, they can get a star, not a super-star, which could put them on the fast track.

The Celtics have some expiring contracts and numerous picks with which to play with...so is that enough to do anything?

Does anyone else have high hopes for the deadline?
We can always hope that we can make a trade for a disgruntled high quality player at the trade deadline, but that is probably a longshot. The more realistic goal is to continue to pare salary in exchange for draft choices. Thornton, Bass, Wright, and Crowder don't have guaranteed contracts and won't be back next year and should be traded for other expiring contracts and whatever draft choices we can get. Green and Nelson have player option contracts for next year that they will both probably opt out of. Just to be sure they need to be also moved for expiring contracts and draft choices. Turner has a relatively cheap contract for next year but I don't think that he is in our long term plans so he should also be moved for an expiring contract and a draft choice if possible. No team will take Wallace so we will have him for one more year. Bradley is the most interesting question mark. Others may disagree but I would move Bradley for nothing more than an expiring bad contract. I would just like to get his salary off the books. He has been a major disappointment. If we can do most of these moves, other than Bradley and Wallace, we will just have the young guys left which is fine with me. We will be roughly $30 million under the cap. Getting high quality free agents to sign with us is another matter. We will probably have to overpay for them to be interested but the good news is that our other contracts are cheap so we can afford to do just that.
