  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
.500 by Jan 1st may be pushing it, but 13-16 seems like a low end projection, with 14-15 being the most likely.

And I definitely want the Celtics to make the playoffs - all it would really take is one small move to bring in a proven center. It would be a wonderful experience for this team moving forward as it would give the younger players a feeling of accomplishment and hopefully lure a big time FA or disgruntled veteran to our team next summer. On an off note, it would be very helpful to clear Wallace off the books to give us that opportunity.

Why are people making this sound like it would be a good thing??  I hope we are not .500 by New Years.  I hope they don't hit .500 all season.  Who wants to be mediocre.  We need high draft picks not useless play-off games.

That ship has long sailed. We're way too good to be tanking right now, and it'd only work if we sold all of our players off. Right now our best bet is to try and pull a Houston, make the playoffs, and hopefully try to pull one of the bigger FA names over here this summer with Rondo.

The guy with the creepy clown mask has it right.

Haha it's the Joker get it right!  :P

I don't know man, this has Atlanta Hawks written all over it.  I am not saying they have to go the way of the 76ers but get into the lottery and hope for a Cleveland move up.  That or trade all of our assets for Kobe and make a move to contend.  Mediocre is Hell and it's a long Hell.

The differences between us and Atlanta is were doing this with are youth movement.  Atlanta rosters never had players  going thru any true developtments liek we have with KO, Sully, AB. That alone makes our playoff push that more enticing..  You can just envision that the C's didnt draft James Young untill next year, so it can seem like we had a nice draft ha ha.

ALSO...Im definitely going to assume the "Kobe" comment was sarcasm.. Extreme rate of sarcasm....

Atlanta wouldn't have been in purgatory had they drafted well. What if they had selected Chris Paul or Deron Williams instead of Marvin Williams in 2005? What about if they had picked Rudy Gay, Rondo or Kyle Lowry in 2006?

They were in purgatory because they surrounded some quality players with poor draft picks. I'm much less worried about Danny doing the same thing. Even if he misses on one of his picks every year, we have multiple firsts for the next couple years so this team should add more talent to the pipeline than the Hawks ever did.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Are the Hawks out of "purgatory" or are they still in it?

The Atlanta Hawks missed the playoffs for eight straight years from 2000 to 2007.  They earned plenty of high draft picks for their troubles.

It took a lot of badness for them to achieve their current levels of mediocrity.
