Yes .....after LeBron is out of the EAST .

Until then ......

Everybody else is pretty much spinning their wheels.

LeBron lost.

Indeed. Year one of the rebuild accomplished relatively little. Glad I'm not paying for tickets.

Nor am I this year, most likely.  I'm broke.

The C's managed a to take several small steps in Year 1, including jettisoning Doc for a pick, clearing out CLee, and also bringing in another genuine C in Zeller, which is at least an attempt to balance the roster.

Could be worse...

I mean, if there is no splashy deal to make, DA has made some nice little ones.

bright future?  not sure I'd go quite that far but it's definitely better than the gloom and doom others have cast on the team.

C's have a number of picks that can either be used to select good young talent from the draft or used in deals to bring in established players.  much better in this aspect than other franchises.

C's have decent role players that could be attractive to better teams at the trading deadline.  speculation for sure but C's do have those assets if teams are looking for an extra piece that could help them down the stretch.  Along those lines, C's have players on decent financial contracts this year (and Wallace next year) that can be used as financial ballast in deals to bring in better players.

C's have young players that are showing they are NBA-caliber, some are already starting caliber for good teams in AB and Sully.  KO and Smart figure to show that level of talent this year.

I can see why some think Philly and Minny may have a brighter future based on the level of projected talent in the young players they have but neither has the vet talent to trade nor the plethora of draft picks to use in deals like the C's do.  While they're young talent may indeed but terrific players, what other assets to they have to surround those players with good talent or veteran leadership to show them how to win.  they don't have it.  Those teams could very well lose those players once they hit free agency and they'll be right back to building from scratch all over again.

Currently the prospects on our team are not significant.  THere's probably a dozen teams with comparable prospects.

But what makes us intriguing is our huge stock of draft picks... until you realize that most of them will probably end up late 1sts.  But presumably we're going to stink... so our own picks will probably end up in the lotto for the foreseeable future.

Right now Boston's is all about quantity of assets... not quality.  We got a lot of middling prospects and potentially middling picks.  Something cray-cray could happen in Brooklyn which could end up putting us in a really nice position, but we gotta we a few years for that and it's just as likely that Brooklyn continues to be a playoff team.

Compare our hypothetical future to the hypothetical future of a team like Philly or Wolves and it's a no contest.  Philly already has a couple players on their team that could be franchise cornerstones.  The Wolves have a guy who you can potentially build a team around.  Boston is still reaching for a star prospect.  Smart could end up being a starter eventually, though.

Indeed. Year one of the rebuild accomplished relatively little. Glad I'm not paying for tickets.

Gotta disagree with this one -- tickets are way cheaper now that the C's are a lottery team.  ;)
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

Until I see how the Sixers improve this season, I don't envy them at all. They have some of the best potential with the most risk/bust potential.

As we've seen in all major sports, having good management is often (not always) the key to success. And while we can't draft management, we should be pleased we have the right guys in there now.

The situations in Philly and Minny might seem fun but I have little faith in their management and I'm sure some of the fans there feel the same.
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

Well said.

Minnesota might have landed some pretty decent young talent in exchange for Love, but their management literally has no track record to make me think they are headed in the right direction.

As for Philly, I just literally despise the idea of intentionally becoming bad with the hope that  it's going to pay off in the long run.

I think that gives the wrong impression to your fans and I don't think tanking ever works out.
